Southern rock icons and members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
"Lynyrd Skynyrd has always been one of the bands most requested by the Sturgis Rally campers who choose the Buffalo Chip," said Rod Woodruff, campground owner. "Their showmanship and musicianship is unmatched by anyone in rock."
In March of 2006, the band, and original members Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, Ed King, Steve Gaines, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, Bob Burns and Artimus Pyle were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Their signature three lead guitar sound made their songs "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama" anthems among most Americans and especially the bikers who come to the Sturgis Rally.
"We have The Best Party Anywhere at the Buffalo Chip, during the Sturgis Bike Rally," Woodruff said. "Who could argue that Lynyrd Skynyrd's music isn't the best party music?"
Besides the two anthems mentioned above, Lynyrd Skynyrd's hits include: "Gimme Three Steps," "Saturday Night Special," "Simple Man," "Swamp Music," "What's Your Name," "Workin' for MCA,"and "Call Me The Breeze."
