Red at the Chip
Concert Passes Here
Inspired by Dante’s Inferno, RED has created an album in Innocence & Instinct that crosses the alternative metal and alternative rock genres. Inferno was a guide that illuminated the path toward rock and roll greatness. We assume the path will be taken on two wheels to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the Legendary Buffalo Chip
The book starts with Dante and Virgil standing at the Gates of Hell and showed the band might how to address deep issues poetically. And if Dante enhanced the storytelling, a highway crash in late ’07 accelerated the band’s emotional core. As the tour van smashed into a guardrail and violently slid sideways across the highway, the band experienced new heights of horror that they channeled into Innocence & Instinct.
“Fight Inside” sets the tone of the recording early and rides elegant piano keys to a chilling chorus as guitar agitation builds to a savage ending. The song demonstrates the band’s ability to transition between angst, melodies and major-key resolves. They demonstrate the kind of musicianship and artistic compositions that Sturgis Rally music fans look for in concerts at the Legendary Buffalo Chip.
Some of the songs lean toward internal strife, “Never Be the Same” exemplifies Innocence with optimism. The piano powers “Start Again” which deals with the remorse over failed relationships.
RED came together in Nashville and made a quick impact with End of Silence The Grammy-nominated CD, featured the radio hits “Breathe Into Me” (Top 10, Active Rock) and “Already Over” (Top 15, Active Rock). The band’s ability to layer orchestration and the dynamics of a rock band helped build a momentum that got them onto the Billboard 200.
They’ve toured with post-grunge rockers like Sevendust, Flyleaf, Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Seether and more. Like most Sturgis Rally bikers, they work hard, with more than 500 shows between their two albums.
