Def Leppard

Def Leppard, the iconic British hard rock band, will play the Legendary Bufffalo Chip on Monday, Aug. 8 during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Founded in 1977 by Pete Willis and Rick Savage, the young band had a chart-breaking debut album with Joe Elliot, at just 19, leading Def Leppard to a long career of multi-platinum success stories and challenges.

After garnering the attention of the British rock press, they were signed by AC/DC manager Peter Mensch, who got them a Mercury label contract. The band toured the U.K. extensively and opened in a U.S. tour for the likes of Ted Nugent, Pat Travers and judas Priest.

Their growing U.S. audience helped propel their second album, “High ‘n’ Dry” to platinum status. They followed that with a string of multi-platinum discs with “Pyromania,” and “Hysteria” setting new standards for heavy metal with Pyromania reaching 10x platinum and “Hysteria,” garnering 12X platinum.

MTV was an undiable factor in the band’s American success by airing “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak.” In the following years, all the band’s videos were placed in heavy rotation, including “Photograph,” and “Foolin’.”

The band has had a staggering list of hits, including: “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak,” “Photograph,” “Rock of Ages,” “Foolin’,” “Comin’ Under Fire,” “Too Late for Love,” “Billy’s Got a Gun,” “Women,” “Hysteria,” “Animal,” “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Armageddon It,” “Love Bites,” ”Rocket.” “Let’s Get Rocked,” “Have You Ever needed Someone so Bad,” “Stand Up,” “Heaven is,” “Tonight,” “Two Steps Behind,” “Miss You in a Heartbeat,” “Action,” and “Day After Day.”

“Few bands in the history of rock have had the kind of success that Def Leppard has,” said Rod Woodruff, campground owner. “And, there are no rock bands better suited to rock our crowd during our 30th celebration of the biker lifestyle.”
