The Legenday Buffalo Chip Campground will host Tesla is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from Northern California on Friday, Aug. 12.
Buffalo Chip bikers visiting the Sturgis Bike Rally appreciate Tesla for their melodic songs and down-to-earth stage appeal. The loyal and die-hard fan base spans many generations, due mostly to the band’s grueling tour schedule.
Tesla still has its original four members: singer Jeff Keith, guitarist
Frank Hannon, drummer Troy Luccketta and guitarist Brian Wheat, as well as new guitarist Dave Rude.
They were formed in 1985 from an earlier group called City Kidd, which had roots dating to 1982. They scored a record deal with Geffen shortly after changing their name to Tesla, after inventor and radio pioneer Nikola Tesla.
They are well known and loved by bikers everywhere (including those who stay at The Buffalo Chip during Sturgis Bike Week.)
Their Geffen debut, “Mechanical Resonance” produced the hits “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Little Suzi.” They followed with “The Great Radio Controversy” containing the hits “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)” “Love Song” and “The Way It Is” also was a hit.
