Is spare riding gear, clothing etc. typically safe from theft if left inside a tent?

I don't think so, my stuff is always alright, but that doesn't mean that there wouldn't be a few lookin for an opportunity, I never leave anything valuable out, I guess if someone wants to steal my undies then that just makes him a freak not a theif in my book

We have been there for the last 3 years and have not had any problems or have heard of any problems with theft. I guess it is kind of like a small town where the "neighbors" kind of look out for each other. Also, I don't think I would like to be the one getting caught stealing from someone else's campsite. I believe the other campers might make life unpleasant for a while!

I have been going to the Chip for 5 years and NEVER had a single problem with anything. Actually, if you are unfortunate enough to lose something like your cell phone, etc. the great people who stay at the Chip will almost certainly turn it in to lost and found. I wouldn't be stupid and leave your jewelry in plain view at the entrance to your tent, but if you are reasonable, you shouldn't have any trouble. God help the poor person who does steal from a fellow biker and is caught........

I have been "Chipping" it since '98 and I have never had a problem with my gear. Just remember " Don't put anything past anyone and you won't be surprised." But seriously! You will meet some of the finest people in the world at the "Chip".

HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM EITHER, HELL I LEFT MY DAMN KEY IN BIKE ALL DAY WHEN I WENT WITH MY OL'MAN FOR DAY, WE LEFT ALL OUR STUFF OUT ON OUR "PORCH" NO ONE BOTHERS, LIKE SOMEONE ELSE SAID, ALL NEIGHBORS OUT FOR GOOD TIME, IF TENT IS ZIPPED UP, NO ONES GONNA OPEN IT.

I've been staying at the chip since 2000 and have never had any problems with people stealing stuff. In that time the only thing I remember getting ripped off was one night someone stole a whole cooler full of beer. That is usually the exception. I've also come home to find that someone had stocked my cooler with fresh beer and ice (they must have borrowed some during the day.)

The best advice is to camp with friends. If you arrive at the chip without any friends...no worries...by day 2 you will have some new ones who will watch your back.

Enjoy!

Yup, get to know your neighbors and know who is supposed to be around. Everybody will watch out for each other.

And I hope nobody follows me around, cause I ain't locked the scoot up for a long time. Hell, for 2 years I didn't even carry a key.

But feel secure at the Chip, the best party anywhere!!!

Elmo - Hope you didn't notice much of an increase in your cell bill - we dialed a few 900 numbers after you passed out. :-)

Hey Pek - damn you pussed out last year and now I am returning the favor. See you and Lil Red in '09.
