2005 was my first time to the Buffalo Chip.. From Dallas Texas... being that Sturgis was my first Rally ( yeah, I know ) I will admit the experience was a bit overwhelming to me the first day or two, but after hubby and I settled in and started meeting people I loved it... The concerts were grrrreat and only walking distance from our camp ground, was a huge plus, considering we did have a few drinks before, during and umm after the shows... The people we met there were some of the nicest people I have ever met. The Pitchfork Fondue was ' yummy to my tummy ' and will surely do again... I loved browsing thru the shops and many booths set up around the complex, while checking out all the cool bikes riding thru. The events going on, many different types of eating places, and a general store with anything you may have left at home .. all this at one campground was a perrrfect set up to me... The showers by our camp were always cold due to something breaking ? but no prob, my hubby just took me on the bike to the other showers which were always hot... The dust was kicking it up at times.. but after 2 weeks home my lungs were back to normal.. just kidding ... all in all My Buffalo Chip Experience of 2005 was one of the best times I have ever had with my hubby... Memories that will last a life time !!! Thanks Buffalo Chip and we will be back again... oh, and getting my pic taken with Billy Lane.. oops, sorry that was a different experience.. hahaha ~~~~~ angel_gina ~~~~~ |

The old man and I finally made the trip - best decision we've made in a long time. We have reservations for '06 and August can't get here fast enough! |

I actually had a problem with the STAFF admitting folks into the Tim McGraw concert. Some friends and I bought day passes for the concert (wayyy back in June!) and rode a shuttle bus to the Chip from another campground. When we got to the concert area they were not going to allow me in because I had a camera on me....something that I felt I should have been told ahead of time since I purchased my tickets online and had to bring along a copy of the confirmation email. The security staff actually threatened to confiscate my camera and not return it to me...and then they happily informed me that I could purchase a (Kodak one time use) camera at the store inside the venue!!!! However, I honestly have to thank some campers who not only locked my (very expensive professional grade) camera up for me but allowed me to enjoy the concert with them and even settled me down with a very wonderful (and STIFF) rum and coke..... |

| I'm sure it was a real bummer when you where told that there where no cameras allowed but we do make every effort possible to let people know all the rules. It is stated quite plainly in the camping rules that no cameras are allowed in the concerts. Sorry for the inconvenience. |

Posted By kilmer@buffalochip.com on 11/22/2005 12:26 AM It is stated quite plainly in the camping rules that no cameras are allowed in the concerts. Sorry for the inconvenience. Actually Mike, only video cameras are mentioned in the camping rules. The FAQ section states cameras are allowed. The press passes section states that professional cameras are not allowed without press credentials. By the description of her camera the press pass rule is what got her. Regular campers have no reason to read the press passes section. Woody may want to consider rewriting these three areas so that they are all inclusive and correlate with each other. It may also be very helpful to define what security is to consider a 'professional' camera. Many amateurs are now buying what could be considered professional grade cameras. Also, even the cheapest digital cameras are capable of taking video does that ban all digital cameras? CAMPING RULES SECTION: ...exclude bottles, cans, coolers, weapons, video cameras and other contraband out of the campground... FAQ SECTION: Can we bring our camera to the concerts? Yes, but taping a concert is not allowed. PRESS PASSES SECTION: No professional cameras , video or otherwise, will be allowed onto the campground without Buffalo Chip Press Credentials. |

| Your right Stroker. It talks about video camera and is not explicit enough. I will have Woody look at it again and see if he would like to clarify it better. It seem as though we rewrite all the rules and explaination on a regular basis but it is really helpful when you are able to let us know where we can do better. Thanks |

hey yall, all i can say is that it's the best party anywhere! I've gone to the chip the last four years but missed '05 because of a wreck on the way there with 4 broken ribs, a broken collarbone and a collapsed lung. that said, i've always met great people and had a great time. people in the know understand that you respect others (don't touch their bikes, don't mess with their women, etc).Come to party and have fun - you won't be disappointed! doc |

Hi Kilmer.... thanks for the response ...I didn't camp at the Chip so of course, I didn't have a copy of the 'rules'. I camp at the Day's End and take "da bus" in for a day just to hang with a few friends and see a concert. The real problem was the "gate guard" who threatened to confiscate my camera...and he did so rather rudely. I even asked if there was an office where maybe I could lock my camera up for the duration of the concert. He asked me 'if I was crazy'....??? At least I know for this coming year not to tote the camera along...I consider it a 'learning curve experience' and look forward to Gretchen Wilson!!! |

Yep S.E.AK the Tim McFart concert brought a lot of cowboys with attitudes, but thats the only time I have seen that go on. Toby Keith was great, played in the pouring rain and then said he was coming to party afterward with us, now thats my kind of guy. A bunch of us partyed til hours after the sun came up and one guy said he was the drummer for Toby don't know if he was or not but he could play the six string. Tooooooo fun.... |

I have been at the Chip for the last 4 years in a row and I have met some of the greatest people ever. Each year I meet new people and there are a group of us who now make it a point to get together each year at the Chip. Last year my next door neighbors in the dry camping area were having problems with their generator so I plugged them into my motor coach so they could power their camper from my Generator the whole week. Everyone at the Chip has always been willing to help each other out. For the last few years, I have gone to the Chip alone and then met up with friends. I have always had neighbors offer to help me unload or do anything they can to help me. I have had 4 spinal fusions and have to be very careful should the bike tip over while tying it down by myself, etc. Everyone has always been great helping me. Last year, my neighbors with the electrical problem and I went on several full day rides together to Hullett, Wyoming, etc. One day we went to Deadwood and even though they had never been in a casino, they were willing to give one a try. The wife of the couple, Jeannie, put one dollar in a dollar slot, pulled the handle and won either $1,200 or $1,600! She about passed out. The prize money paid for almost all of their trip costs, including the Chip tickets, etc.! When we got back to the Chip, the weather was looking gloom (just before the Toby Keith Concert) so I thought I would park my bike in the trailer. Well, it turns out that I had locked all 3 sets of my keys for the trailer and coach in the trailer. The trailer is made of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood) just like semi truck trailers are made. No seams, no rivets, no way to take the trailer apart to get in. The locks are all professional grade shielded locks and could not be cut without a plasma cutter. The hinges are stainless and extra heavy duty with all hardware inside the hinges. There is a 12" square, exterior dimensions, roof vent on the roof of the trailer. We parked my neighbors truck close to the trailer and climbed on the trailer roof. I forced the roof vent open and removed the screen and hinges. Then, Jeannie stood with her arms straight over her head and we lowered her thru the vent into the trailer so she could get my leather jacket with the keys in the pocket. Talk about a neighbor helping out! What is amazing is that the interior dimensions of the vent hole are about 11" square and she fit thru without a scrape. Thats one of my 2005 Chip stories! |
