Am I reading correctly when I read that you are NOT allowed to bring your own alcohol into the camping area?? Or can you just not bring it into the concert area??

You can't bring it into the concert amphitheater area; at your campsite it is fine.

They even sell beer in the General Store at the Chip.
I bought a 12-pack there and shared it with new friends I made while doing laundry the last time I was there; even washing your clothes is fun at the Chip!

Can't wait 'til August!

Sorry folks here is the statement from the FAQ's :

Can we bring our own alcohol to the campground and concerts?

Sorry, but it’s illegal. Several on site bars provide beer and liquor. Carry out beer is available for the campground. No outside beer can be brought into the amphitheater.

I'm more confussed than when I first asked.... Let me put it this way. When I get there on Monday and come in the front gate to camp for the ENTIRE week, I can or cannot have 6 cases of beer, a few bottles of vodka, a bottle of crown, etc........

New harley... You make history often?? hehe

Hello,
They do not check your vehicle for beer when you arrive. We have stayed at the Chip since 2000 and have always taken beer to drink for the week at our campsite. However you can not carry beer in to the vendor and stage area. If you want to drink during a concert you must purchase beer from the vendors inside.
I hope this helps!
