just got back last night, the chip rules!!! bring money, the more fun tickets ($20 bills) the more fun. I spend about $500 for my trip from Denver. I believe in riding, that is half of the fun. if you tent camp which again is the way to go, just show up at the gate, you can save money buying early bird pass. The Chip is like a city in itself, you just need a place to lay down and everything you would want is there, from ATM to internet cafe, 24 hr store and the best damn party in the world. on the down side Woody still has not fixed the showers, so I just go to the pay showers, they are great at $6 a day for a hot shower and clean out house. Meet you at the pond next and let's have a beer!!!!

Depends on what you want. Woody has trailers, tents and plenty of space for both. How much ntime you going to spend there? It's cheaper to get the early bird pass as soon as it is for sale. There will be good bands, good riding, good people and the best party ever. You want lavish tent and ride in? Ship your gear to the Chip. Then you can ride light and then ship it home. Then you can have all the gear you want. Bring plenty of cash. You don't have to spend it all, but ya gotta have it to spend it. Yes, there are ATM's. Plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry. (Get Mary if yer lucky. Arh Arh Arh) BUT, don't stop looking and asking. There are plenty of people to share their secrets. See ya next year!

I am also a believer in riding to Sturgis- for me, the trip out there (1600 miles) is a chance to clear out my head and get ready to party! Figure your fuel costs and motel rooms for the trip, plus 20 or 30 dollars a day for food (and beer at the end of a 500 mile day).

I make my reservations in advance (like the other guys said, you can save a bunch of cash that way) and figure on spending at least $200 a day while I am in Sturgis. From experience, make sure you have extra cash in the bank (ATMs are at the Chip) for the little surprises or in case you have a problem on the road.

I consider the Chip and Sturgis to be my main vacation of the year and I save my vacation days from work and my money to get ready for the trip. I can not tell you how much fun you will have- you will have to see it for yourself!

You have probably already heard this, but I will say it again- the people you will meet at the Chip are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I always tent camp and I enjoy "meeting the neighbors"- little secret- take a coffee pot and some extra cups for new friends if you want to be "the man" on your trip.

Anyway, start getting ready now for the trip- test your tent and camping gear on short trips, save up some cash so you don't have to worry about it and get ready for the BEST PARTY ANYWHERE! See you there next summer!!!

Thanks for the info this will get me on the right track. Another couple questions, what's the deal with fenski park ? is it like the best spot ? what are the spots to grab if I reserve early ? I might be tenting or trailer rental.
Thanks
