I have heard some stories about some places that have probs with not riding a harley I am looking to see what the receptions for metrics such as touring bikes at the chip and other campgrounds? Are they accepted at the chip by the partiers? |

| You heard wrong. I stay at the Chip every year and currently ride a Honda VTX. Other than the usual ribbing, normally all in fun, you won't have any more problems with this issue at the Chip, or anywhere else around the Rally, than you would in your own home town |

| Casino is right I never heard of disrespect for the other two wheelers, matter of fact I had several metric bikers help me put up my tent, gave me a couple of beers too while doing it. We all share the same roads and dangers on two wheels. I'm planning to leave sunny California last week of July, keep in touch. |
Posted By KGB on 01/13/2010 9:48 PM I have heard some stories about some places that have probs with not riding a harley
I'll guess that those people that told you those stories never went to the Buffalo Chip. I camp with a great group of people that have mostly Harleys but we occasionally have a metric in our crew. I have never heard anyone in the Chip disrespect someone because of what brand of motorcycle they ride. Any ribbing is all in fun, as previously said. In my experience, riding since I was 5, I'm 40 this year, the discrimination of Bike brand will usually come from the other side, not Harley riders. What I mean is, some people that ride non-Harleys or metrics will assume that Harley riders hate them or discriminate. So any sideways look or explitive hurled may seem to them as an attack because of what they ride. Basically, 'get over it'... No one cares what your riding, just that you ride well. Meant in the most spirited "welcome aboard brother" tone I can muster in text.... I would ask one thing of metric riders, as a Harley rider...When referring to our motorcycles, Please capitalize the "H" when typing "Harley"... you know? Show some respect. ;) (kidding, jeez!) Hope to see you all this year! Peace, Pablo |

| Hey, don't worry about what you ride, your in the wind and enjoy it. Nobody at the chip is gonna care what you rode in on. My wife and I will ride in again this year from alabama. Always looking for riding partners for the trip. We will leave on the 5th of august and hope to arrive on the 10th in time for ZZ top. Safety in numbers, we make a bigger road profile with more bikes. We take our time and enjoy the road trip as much as Sturgis. If you are interested in riding with us send me an email at tonyclark22000@yahoo.com. See you at the chip. |

| Everyone is correct. Rode two different metrics to Sturgis over the years and never had a problem. On my third one this year. Too many people watched that discovery channel show that showed the old 'rice drops' from years ago. Most folks at the Chip come to have a good time and couldn't give a damn if you showed up on a Vespa. So, quit fretting and ride. |
