Mackie Rocks the Sound… Weekend #1 Saturday June 2nd
There is something special that happens when you combine Harley-Davidson, Mackie and live bands. Sound Harley-Davidson, located in the Pacific Northwest, is holding a month-long battle of the bands competition which will give one lucky band the chance to play at the legendary Buffalo Chip during the 2007 Sturgis motorcycle rally.
As the sound system sponsors, Mackie came in with a system worthy of such a high-level event. The system consisted of a SWA2801z and SA1532z per side for FOH, a slew of SRM450’s for monitors and an Onyx 3280 handling both the main mix and monitors. There were also two quad EQ’s and two quad comp/gates in the drive rack to help manage the sonic details.
Even in the direct sun and 90 degree weather both the Mackie gear and the two bands, Time Well Wasted and Here-N-Now pumped out some serious rock and roll. After the performance Troy Pempeit, drummer for Here-n-Now said, “This gear is awesome. I will play any where and any time as long as Mackie gear is there”.
With three more weeks and six more bands still to play the competition is just starting to heat up. A couple of the other bands were on hand and were very excited to find out they would be playing through this Mackie system. Stay tuned as we update the progress of this competition and announce the winner by July 10..
Mackie Rocks the Sound – part II
The battle of the bands competition continues as two more bands took the stage at Sound Harley-Davidson for their shot at winning stage time at the legendary Buffalo Chip during the 2007 Sturgis motorcycle rally. As the sound system sponsors,
Mackie came in with a system worthy of such a high-level event.
The Mackie system consisted of a
TT24 handling both the main mix and monitors, a
SWA1801z and
SA1532z per side for FOH, and a slew of
SRM450’s for monitors . The TT’s on-board gates, compressors and EQ’s provided all the dynamic control necessary and eliminated the need for an external drive rack.
Although the Northwest weather threatened rain, the sunshine peaked out between the clouds in time to check out two great bands. Both Stormm and Midstokke rocked the crowds their own high-energy music while the Mackie system provided enough volume for the next county to enjoy it. Both bands commented on how good things sounded on stage and out front for the audience.
With only two more weeks to go, the first four bands have handed down some stiff competition. We’re told that the remaining bands are ready for the challenge. Nothing beats a great band, a rocking sound system and a sea of Harley’s.
Mackie Rocks the Sound – part III
The Rock the Sound….Sturgis Bound competition continues to heat up. So far six bands have taken their best shot at a chance to represent Sound Harley-Davidson at the legendary Buffalo Chip during the 2007 Sturgis motorcycle rally. The Mackie sound system continues to rock the crowds as well as impress the bands. Comments like “this gear is freakin amazing” says a lot when it comes from the seasoned veterans playing in this competition.
Mother nature provided the perfect backdrop for a day of great music, great people, and great rides. The two competing bands, SuperFekta and Dog Leg Preacher, each packed their own unique style into their world-class performances. Based on the cheers from the sea of people it was clear that everyone enjoyed the music. In fact, both bands were called back up for encore songs. Several of the previous competing bands were on hand to see what they were up against and again commented on how good the Mackie system sounded.
The Mackie system consisted of a TT24 covering both the main mix and monitors positions, the new DS3232 digital snake which fed the digital console from the stag, an SWA2801z and SA1532z per side for FOH, and five SRM450’s for monitors. The new digital snake made set up a breeze and integrated flawlessly giving complete digital control of all audio sources from the stage all the way to the console.
With only one more week to go, everyone is anxiously awaiting performances from the final bands and the announcement of the winner. Everyone will be on hand for the announcement as the winners will be playing one final set before packing their bags for a much-deserved trip to Sturgis. Who will it be?
