The Legendary Buffalo Chip serves to honor those who have tirelessly served our great country of America through various emotionally moving displays of appreciation in their Freedom Celebration, including the Field of Flags, Battlefield Cross Memorial and American Veterans Traveling Tribute memorial Wall.

The Field of Flags, a field of nearly 1,000 flags, stands majestically around the Battlefield Cross and in front of the Veterans Memorial Wall paying tribute to the military currently serving our country. The flags can be seen fluttering in the wind. Though just like the American spirit, the flags are able to withstand the toughest winds during the Sturgis motorcycle rally. The Field of Flags is put up and taken down by servicemen volunteers from the nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Amidst the beauty of the American Field of Fags sits the Battlefield Cross Memorial, another tribute to those that have fallen in the line of duty. The Battlefield Cross Memorial features a military grade gun, with boots sitting at the foot of it and a helmet atop of it. The rock has all the branches of the armed forces engraved on it. It is a solid piece of granite with the engraving of the Us Army, USMC, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, the POW MIA symbol and the slogan: “Land of the Free, Because of the Brave”.
