The Legendary Buffalo Chip’s annual Poster Model Search has become one of the most anticipated events leading up to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Each year, we join forces with the Black Hills’ best watering holes to audition potential models to find the one hometown girl who will grace the Buffalo Chip’s collectable poster as well as advertising around the world including those big billboards you and hundreds of thousands of Sturgis Rally bikers will see all over the Hills. This year, we’ve teamed with 95.1 KSKY Radio to bring the contest to our Sturgis Rally fans.
Several of the Chip’s past poster models have gone on to successful modeling careers. And Jessica from the 2007 and 2008 posters took second place in the Miss Buffalo Chip Hawaiian Tropic Pageant held during the 2008 Sturgis Rally at the Chip.
Participation is easy. Potential models simply need to show up at the watering hole of their choice, answer a few questions and wait for the judges’ decisions. You get to attend the Sturgis Rally Buffalo Chip concert of your choice just for entering the first time!
If you win there, you’ll advance to the semi-finals, which will be held May 16 at the Back Porch in Spearfish. Semi-final winners who participate in the semi-finals receive a pass to stay at the Buffalo Chip and see all the entertainment from July 31 to Aug. 8. That’s NINE DAYS OF CONCERTS! The semi-finals are different in that
contestants make three wardrobe changes during the competition:
Biker gear, lingerie and bikini.
The Buffalo Chip judges will choose half of the semi-finalists to advance to the final competition at Teddy’s in Rapid City on May 30.
The lucky winner there will receive a $500 modeling contract for the poster shoot, which will be done at the Black Parrot pond on the Legendary Buffalo Chip campus. Once the posters are printed, the winner will travel the Black Hills on weekend evenings autographing posters and spend the week at the Buffalo Chip, autographing posters and acting as the spokesmodel and good-will ambassador for the Chip.
