From the Handle Bars

The New Year celebration continues as we credit the 2008 XXL memories of the Chip that make the list for Best Year Ever. It was more than difficult to decide where they fit in rank so by the power vested in us, we deemed them all worthy of the number one spot. Enjoy !

First – Kid Rock really rocked. “The concert that actually made chills go up my spine” --long time camper, Denise.

First – The ultimate source of all things Sturgis Motorcycle Rally got a facelift this year and the results were next to breathtaking. The Buffalo Chip Gazette/Sturgis Rider News –yes, for which these e-newsletters are named- rolled out over 50 pages of motorcycles and music.

First – The look of ‘shock and awe’ on the face of the lucky winner of the Sucker Punch Sally Bike Giveaway. Classic.

First – The stealth of Senator John McCain’s rooftop routine security. These men-in-black got a birds eye view from atop the Wolfman Jack stage.

First – Nine Days of Sunrise - Chances are we weren’t just getting up, rather just getting to bed.

First – The inaugural explosion of sound coming from the Wolfman Jack Mainstage Thursday afternoon and made its way to the top of Crazy Horse Hill to
meet the early arrivers. A staffer noted the crowds forming inside the amphitheatre to take in the awesome quality the pro’s from Renkus Heinz were pumping out.

Between the Gears

The Seattle biker favorite is bringing their brand of party back to the Chip for 2009. Midstokke, who made their first appearance at the Kinison Playground after winning the ‘07 Sound Harley Davidson Battle of the Bands, has confirmed they will be back with their unruly combination of talent and rock & roll form. Since the 2008 Sturgis Rally, Midstokke has

been keeping the dream alive playing at rally’s in the greater northwest and working on a follow up to their debut album ‘Private Stokke’. Their return tour will mark the third year of ‘rock and roll reality’ for the five-man band who got together in late 2004. Steve takes ahold of the vocals while Fraser, Kenny and Ted rip out undeniable talent on bass and guitars, leaving Cory to rock out the beat. These guys promise a “balls out rockin’ good time” so look for them in the line-up, catch them online at www.myspace.com/midstokketheband and get ready to add them to your favorites.

Chip Shots

PICTURE YOURSELF HERE! We love it when our camper’s share the moments caught on camera from rally’s past and present. The Chip Shots™ portion of every Sturgis Rider Newsletter® will feature a scrapbook style roll down memory lane with the photos and stories that you submit to Stephanie@buffalochip.com . Pick out your favorites and get them in because we’ll be featuring a spread of YOU in the 2009 Collector’s Edition Buffalo Chip Gazette® and on the big screens before and after the concerts. See YOU in 2009!

Looking for those lost memories from 5, 10 or 20 years ago? You’ll find them in the collectors Chip Shots book - check it out here.
