The Buffalo Chip thanks you for making us first in concerts and camping for 28 years. Here are some of the other firsts that riders and campers got to experience at the Legendary Buffalo Chip in 2009.
Buffalo Chip hosts Metzeler Motorcycle Tires’ 7th Annual Sturgis Custom Bike Show
Metzeler is known for setting trends and putting the rubber to the road with the best available tire on the market. For the past 7 years, the Metzeler Sturgis Custom Bike Show has been known as the breeding ground for five star builds and anything-but-traditional fabrications. Previous entries in the shows served as trendsetters across the custom bike building community so for builders, this show has become the yearly to-do.
The builders brought their best to the Lichter Exhibition Hall, seeking the highest awards in their divisions and the coveted People’s Choice Award. The Custom Bike Associations’ certified judges had a full gamut of classes and bikes to fill the score cards; each pleasantly displayed with an aesthetic “Rebel Rousers” Exhibit as the backdrop. Judging the show were Eddie Trotta of Thunder Cycles, American Iron Editor Chris Maida, Bob Cashwell of Drag Specialties, Paul Cox of Cox Industries and Athena Ransom of Vegabond Choppers. Judging standards focus on evaluating applied skills, craftsmanship, fabrication and the engineering within the build.
BEST OF SHOW for 2 Years in A Row
From the grips to the shocks, the builder who produced the finished product and took home the Best of Show was Todd Silicato of Todd’s Cycle. Todd is the first back-to-back Best of Show winner in the history of Metzeler’s Custom Bike Shows.
Look for “Olive” in American Iron Magazine and featured in the 2010 Metzeler Ad Campaign. Todd will also hang out with world renowned builder, Eddie Trotta in a 3 day apprenticeship. With a kick-ass prize package worth over $15,000 it’s no wonder that the 2009 show saw the highest number of custom builders!
