Remembering Veterans Day, November 11
The Sturgis Celebration of Red, White and Blue is one of the biggest parts of our campground event schedule. You could say it’s in our blood. Every year hundreds of veterans ride through the iron gates, proud to have served their country. We take a special pride in honoring the veterans, those lost in the battle and those protecting our freedoms today.
A field of 1,000 flags welcomed Sturgis riders with each flag placed in honor those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. A momentous ceremony presented by the South Dakota Patriot Guard Riders and dedication of the Field of Remembrance took place near the west gates on Monday August 3. Visitors came to take in the one thousand flag salute by riding or walking through the epic display of patriotism; leaving in silence and reflection. A special thank you to: Paul Swenson of Colonial Flags, MGySgt Steven Martinez, Sgt Brandon Douglas, Sgt Patrick Lokken and local Marine volunteers for their commitment to this memorable exhibit of patriotism.
Taste the Wild West at the Buffalo Chip Fondue
The place where music meets motorcycles now features a piece of the wild west like no other campground can. Treat yourself to a full plate of western experience wrangled up by the cowboy chefs. These hearty Pitchfork Fondue Steaks have a history with satisfying even the
hungriest riders with plate sizes of large and extra large. The menu includes a steak dinner with all the fixin’s complimented with fresh greens and delicious dessert.
What’s more? Live music on the Hoyt-Axton Blues Fondue stage adds to the outdoor delight. The corral can only fit so many so make sure you don’t go hungry or pass up this mouth watering, belly filling way to get your night started right!
