EDGAR WINTER COMPLETES STELLAR BUFFALO CHIP LINE-UP

The announcement today of rock icon Edgar Winter’s Friday, Aug. 4 rally kick-off performance completes the Legendary Buffalo Chip’s concert line-up.

A prolific writer, Edgar's music encompasses many different genres, including rock, jazz, blues, and pop. From his critically acclaimed 1970 debut release, Entrance, he has demonstrated his unique style and ability to cross the genre lines and do the unexpected. His early recording of "Tobacco Road" is a powerful, emotionally devastating masterpiece that propelled him into the national spotlight. Edgar followed Entrance with two hit albums backed by his group White Trash, a group originally comprised of musicians from Texas and Louisiana. White Trash enjoyed huge success, both with the 1971 release of the studio album, Edgar Winter's White Trash, and with 1972's follow-up live gold album, Roadwork.

In late 1972 Edgar formed The Edgar Winter Group, the legendary band that created such hits as the number one Frankenstein and the ever popular Free Ride. Released in 1973, They Only Come Out at Night peaked at the number 3 position on the Billboard Hot 200 and stayed on the charts for 80 weeks

Winter invented the keyboard body strap early in his career, an innovation that allows him the freedom to move around on stage during his multi-instrument high-energy performances. He was also the first artist to feature a synthesizer as the main instrument in a song.

Frankenstein revolutionized rock and roll and opened up a whole new world of possibilities with experimentation and sound.

Winter’s performance will be the first in an all-star 9-day musical event consistent with the Chip’s 25-year reputation as the best party anywhere.

Alice Cooper headlines Saturday, Aug. 5 with his theatrical shock rock show.

1980s rock superstar Billy Idol will bring his trademark snarling rock performance to the Chip on Sunday, Aug. 6 and will be joined by Foreigner with one of the hottest bands (including drummer Jason

Bonham) ever to play at the Chip.

Country superstars Montgomery Gentry will bring their hard-rockin’

hard-partying set to the Chip on Monday, Aug. 7 and will be joined by party rocker and slide guitar genius George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

Gretchen Wilson will be "here for the party" on Tuesday, Aug. 8

bringing a stage show that only the original redneck woman could.

Wilson will be joined by her long-time friends Lynyrd Skynyrd, who, with their hits "Free Bird," "They Call Me The Breeze" and "Sweet Home Alabama" have become one of the most popular bands among bikers.

Wednesday, Aug. 9 brings the original redneck rock-n-roll son of Detroit, Kid Rock, certainly one of the top performers ever to grace the Buffalo Chip stage. He'll be joined by Blue Oyster Cult, for years, one of the hardest working bands in rock and the personification of excellence.

Thursday, Aug. 10 will mark the history-making reunion of one of the most pivotal rock bands in history, when slide guitar wizard Joe Walsh joins with Jimmy Fox and Dale Peters for the first show in the first concert performance of The James Gang since 1972. Motor City Madman Ted Nugent will start the evening off with a cat scratchin’

showcase of guitar virtuosity.

Friday, Aug. 11 will mark two more reunions with performances by Alice In Chains and Buckcherry. Alice in Chains bandmates Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney will be joined by new vocalist William Duvall. Buckcherry returns to the road with the release of "15" their first CD since 2001.

Diamond David Lee Roth will close the Chip’s 25th Annual Best Party Anywhere with a hard rockin’ performance of his Van Halen and solo hits on Saturday, Aug. 12.

Campground owner Rod Woodruff says the Chip’s 2006 is among the best in the venue’s 25-year history. "The party starts here. It always has."
