LET THE CHALLENGE BEGIN!
In January, the Legendary Buffalo Chip asked, “What can we do to cultivate the next generation of bike builders and motorcycle technicians?” The next question, of course, was how do we make this effort the Best <industry-education project> Ever?

How about adding in the best parts in the world, one of the best builders as their teacher and then showing it off on the biggest stage in the motorcycling world? This is just what the Buffalo Chip has done. We went to the classroom in search of a few motorcycle enthusiasts to issue a challenge; A challenge that would exceed any other normal classroom project and give them real world experience while they were at it. We found those students enrolled in the regions’ highly qualified welding and manufacturing programs at Western Dakota Technical Institute.

To the students enrolled in welding and fabrication at Western Dakota Tech it’s the next best thing to winning the lottery. To the Buffalo Chip, Prugh Design, Black Hills Harley Davidson, Custom Chrome, Jaybreak and Performance Machine, it’s a commitment to the future of motorcycling. The 2k10 Challenge was issued and accepted in late January and ever since we’ve been in the shop right next to the students and Michael Prugh as they do everything in their power to complete this challenge in the allotted 16 weeks.
