Hello again, my name is Kay Johnson, we have corresponded before as I am part leader/planner of the 'infamous' Borrachos. I just would like to give you a little history about the Borrachos.
The Borrachos started in 2006 at the Buffalochip, we all belong to the Sturgis.com messageboard and in the process of conversing there, figured out we were all going to be at the Buffalochip (A large group that, at 14) get together at the Jack Daniels Bar, partake of the pitchfork fondue and just generally hang out. Well, we found ourselves faced with not a huge problem, we had such a good time and made such a good friendship, as 2009 approches, we've become extended family.
Which brings us to 2007. In 2006 we were spread all over the Chip, we decided it would be more fun to camp together and more intimate to do our own little version of a camp BBQ. We had a friend that had a rented RV up in Crazyhorse......#N21 (sound familiar?) and we all camped in the field north or there. We sounded like a lot of fun and folks decided to join us, 'The more the merrier' has been our motto......numbers in 2007 were about 50 and we made more family and friends.
2008 started early, before Christmas, planning, emails, we had a friend with an RV on the south row this year, worked, but we'd like to have 'frontage' property as one Borracho put it. This year we made a weekend of it......meet and greet in town at the Broken Spoke on Friday, an inpromptu Spearfish Canyon ride on Sat, Oyster shots in Deadwood on Sunday morning before Happy Hour for the Borracho Bash starting Sunday afternoon. We had about 80 this year.
2009 is already in the works...........Borrachos have already rented Crazy Horse spots N22, N23 and M25 with a few more in the planning stages. We expect to have over 100 this year. The Weekend activities are already in the planning stages for 2009 also.
The reason I'm telling you this long boring story is I want to thank you both, your family, staff, hard working volunteers and everybody that makes the Buffalochip possible every year. Without the Buffalochip and the atmosphere you magically put together every year, the Borrachos just wouldn't be the same. We had 80 people from all over the US and Canada roll in this year and they were amazed and had such a wonderful time, they have all been buying up your weeklong passes like hotcakes to get the best deal, because 1 or 2 days of the Buffalochip just wasn't enough for them and it isn't even September yet. A collection is being manned for frontage property in Crazyhorse for 2010...........so I guess your stuck with us.
We now have around this USofA many small Borracho parties happening through the year for regional gatherings of this same group that makes their way to Sturgis and the Buffalochip every August.
I have yacked up the Buffalochip for years, telling people that if you don't like the outhouses, go to the shower house, if you don't like the sun, bring your own shade and I think the entire group has finally got it. The Buffalochip is IT! The Pond, the giant bucking Penis (was a big hit by the way with the newbies this year) the Trolly (I think they may have kinda highjacked it once or twice) and all the new flushers (even though one of our guys has staked claim to 'crapper #12) all the vendors, the store, the eaterys, the bars.......thank you thank you thank you! Not to mention the best lineup of acts of ANY bar/campground in Sturgis the Buffalochip has it goin on!
So, when you keep getting these strange calls from people who say they are a Borracho......if you didn't already know, now you know the story, and also, how much we all thank you from our whole hearts, and please extend it to your staff, they work sooooo hard, becuse without the Chip, we wouldn't have such an extended family.
So the first weekend of Sturgis 2009, make your way up to Crazy horse and look us up for a cold one and some good conversation and fun so we can thank you personally for the good time you help us have every year. Thank you again.
