 Woody's Message 2003

A Message from Rod Woodruff the Buffalo Chip Campground Owner

August 16, 2003 Good morning. It's been a great party and I was thinking of what to say in review, knowing I should get something on the site for you. The following is the very first e-mail I opened. It says it all except the part where we thank you for coming and for being such good friends. So - Thanks from Woody & all the crew. See you next year - August 6-15, 2004. I would like to thank everyone involved for making my trip to the "Chip" so great- I rode out there from Alabama and arrived on Friday- my reservations, wristbands, and ticket to the fondue were waiting on me. I found a great spot to set up my tent near the south showers (thanks also for all the info and maps on this site) Started making new friends even before I had my tent set up, everyone I met during my stay at the chip was friendly- the staff was very helpful and professional. Loved all of the music- Travis Tritt ("Sweet Home Alabama" during his show almost made me homesick), Shine Down, Seether, 3 Doors Down, Steppenwolf (hearing "born to be wild" with 1000 Harley accompanyment was almost a religious experience) and Jethro Tull. I listened to Lennon and was very impressed- outstanding up and coming new group- my compliments to your selection of bands! I can not say enough about how great the pitchfork fondue was! I have always wanted to try an inch thick buffalo steak- finally got my chance thanks to you and it was fantastic! It was great to be able to ride all day in the hills and then come back to such great entertainment and such a great place to stay at night. I used the back roads listed on the "maps" section of the site a few times and got to see parts of the country that were amazing! Got great pictures of empty gravel roads stretching for miles- definitely good memories. There are so many other things that were well done that I can't even remember them all- I will definitely be back next year and I will be telling all of my friends and fellow riders down here in the "deep south" that the only place to stay in Sturgis is at the "Chip"! The only bad thing about my whole trip to Sturgis was that I had to leave on tuesday to get back to work- I am saving more vacation days for next year so I can stay longer.
