New Sturgis Buffalo Chip exhibit curated by Michael Lichter to be entitled Skin and Bones

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 24, 2016) – Custom motorcycle craftsmen and tattoo artists study, research and work countless hours over many years, honing the skills required to become experts at their craft. The Sturgis Buffalo Chip offers an exclusive look at some of the worlds’ most notorious builders’ remarkable motorcycle creations as well as a handful of the motorcycling world’s most beloved artists and photographers in its “Motorcycles as Art” display. The 2016 exhibit, curated by eminent photographer Michael Lichter, is titled with the intriguing theme: “Skin and Bones – Tattoo Inspired Motorcycles and Art.” The exhibit is free to the public and will be open from Saturday, Aug. 6 through Friday, Aug. 12 in the Buffalo Chip’s Russ Brown Events Center.

Tradition of Honoring America’s Military Continues at Annual Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Freedom Celebration

We are compelled to offer our heartfelt respect to those who would lay down their lives for our freedom.

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 30, 2016) – A full day of events has been planned to celebrate American freedom and recognize the courage and unbeatable determination of those who have stood ready to give their lives in defense of ours. In recognition of our nation’s valiant veterans, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip has set aside Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 as its annual Freedom Celebration Day. Several courageous veterans and family members of the fallen have committed to making presentations and imparting personal accounts of patriotism to those who attend. These special guests include those who have offered their lives and sacrificed their limbs and state of well-being in the defense of liberty. The celebration will culminate with a performance by the award-winning country music star Miranda Lambert.

Sturgis Buffalo Chip® to Host Christian Bikers First Annual "Light Up the Hills™" Motorcycle Rally

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 23, 2016) – As many as 5,000 Christian bikers from across the world will be coming together to communicate, worship and coordinate their missions and work during the first annual Light Up the HillsTM motorcycle rally. The event, organized by the non-denominational Fellowship of Motorcycle MinistriesTM, will be hosted at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® July 6-9, 2017. This gathering of Christian motorcycle clubs, ministries, associations and groups will offer attendees the opportunity to assemble in fellowship and enhance their individual missions.

Legendary Renegade Willie Nelson Kicks Off 2016 Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Festival

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 17, 2016) – So many of music’s greatest legends have come and gone. In the world of country music, renegades who played by their own rules like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard have all left a wave of musical memories in their wake. But one performer who dared to be different and led the movement is still entertaining and will be creating more magical memories at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® this August. The great Willie Nelson will be giving Buffalo Chip guests a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as he jumpstarts the Chip’s 35th anniversary party. Yellowstone Off-Road Race Fans Pumped for June Action

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 10, 2016) – Baja-style off-road race enthusiasts are in for a full weekend of exciting live racing action, camping under a starry sky and live music at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® on June 10 and 11. The race, dubbed the “Buffalo Chip 100,” to be staged at the Buffalo Chip’s PowerSports Complex, is one of four in the Yellowstone’s “Wild West Off-Road Series.”

Sturgis Buffalo Chip® Biker Belles® Reveals "Two-Wheeled Transformation"

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 3, 2016) – The sport of motorcycling has witnessed considerable changes over the years. The bikes themselves have become more reliable, comfortable and safer. Not only have the bikes and attitudes about bikes and bikers changed, but the act of riding itself transforms the attitude of the rider. The eighth annual Stugis Buffalo Chip®’s Biker Belles® event, a day of real riders, real stories and real passion, will this year feature a new scenic guided ride and a day of festivities highlighted by a symposium exploring the role the motorcycle plays in transforming lives titled, “Two-Wheeled Transformation.” The event, created to raise awareness of the passion, diversity and spirit of women in motorcycling and to raise funds for local worthy charities will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Buffalo Chip Awards Challenge Scholarships

Buffalo Chip, SD (May 5, 2016) – In an ongoing effort to inspire Black Hills students to discover a career in the expanding world of motorcycle engineering and manufacturing and prepare the next generation of American motorcycle craftsmen, Sturgis Buffalo Chip® president, Rod Woodruff today announced the winners of the 2016 Buffalo Chip ChallengeTM scholarship awards. Three outstanding Black Hills students have been chosen to receive awards totaling $8,500. The Buffalo Chip collaborates with some of the motorcycle industry’s leading professionals to offer a free industrial education and scholarship program to Black Hills students, enabling them to take hold of dreams that might otherwise seem impossible.
