True Evel Knievel style, daredevil “Mad Mike” Hughes will attempt the world record for the longest and highest jump from a ramp inside a steam powered rocket cycle that will launch him an estimated 275 mph, ¼ mile, and 1500 feet high. Hosted by the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, Hughes outrageous steam powered rocket will jump as far and high as Evil Knievel once attempted over Snake River Canyon, Idaho.

The steam powered rocket, propelled by 4000 pounds thrust from a 4 second burn of superheated water allows for no time to react if something were to go wrong.

“Sturgis is going to be huge,” says Mike Hughes, famous for his record breaking stretch limo jump in 2002. “I plan on doing what Evel Knievel failed to do.”

Almost 40 years after Evel Knievel’s attempt, “Mad Mike” Hughes will attempt the dangerous and potentially deadly jump that failed so many years ago. The never before tested steam powered rocket will launch Hughes off a ramp and into the Guinness Book of World records. The attempt, to be hosted by the Sturgis Buffalo Chip, will be filmed for national television.

Known for being the worlds most famous, believe it or not, limo driver, “Mad Mike” is also a former NASCAR crew chief. He is also an author and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Country Fried Videos, and L A Times.
