Catch the vibe of the custom culture and hang out with cutting-edge builders on Sunday, August 7th at the 8th Annual Flying Piston Benefit Builders Breakfast. It’s an inner circle event that brings together top tier companies like Russ Brown, Strider Bikes, Steve’s Garage and Kirsh Helmets to celebrate custom motorcycles and benefit new rider efforts. And it's been the debut, each year since 2018, of the new class of Tiny Strider Customs.
As an attendee, you’ll meet the builders from the Chip’s prestigious Motorcycles As Art exhibit, curated by Michael Lichter, who will be there to shake hands, sign autographs and pose for pictures. And this year, we’ve invited a group of custom builders who have never had a bike in the Motorcycles As Art before.
Moto-celebs lend their support to this worthy effort, too, such as Rod “Woody” Woodruff, Michael Lichter, Cycle Source Editor Chris Callen, Bikernet Editor Keith Ball and emcee Tumbleweed. Moonshiner Josh, Pat Patterson, Bill Dodge, Rick Fairless, Xavier Muriel and Cris Sommer Simmons have stopped in. Surprise appearances are guaranteed!
The flying Piston 2022 Featured Builder is Billy Lane of Choppers, Inc., and Sons of Speed vintage races. Billy's Cool Hand Speed Co. custom will be displayed and he'll be there to sign hero cards and talk with fans.
Featured Artist for 2022 is Darren McKeag of McKeag Art. A tattooist, painter and teacher, Darren's distinctive work is known the world over and he just may have a surprise for the friends and fans who step up to say hello at the Flying Piston Breakfast.
If you want pics of either man, say so!
For the 5th consecutive year, we will unveil the new class of Tiny Strider Customs at the Breakfast. The 2022 builders are Nick Trask, Zach Ness, Cabana Dan Rognsvoog, Rodney Smith, Arlin Fatland, Ryan Kruesi and Greg Scheuer.

The Big Engine Bar at the Buffalo Chip CrossRoads is specially reserved just for this event. There’s a Bloody Mary cash bar and a fabulous silent auction packed with moto-inspired artwork including original painted skateboards and stainless Big Frig mugs plus leather-wrapped flasks and fabricated bottle openers. Selected items are autographed by the dignitaries and celebs.
Proceeds benefit AllKidsBike, an initiative of the Strider Education Foundation that’s on a mission to teach every kid to ride a bike in kindergarten P.E. class, as well as Motorcycle Missions, an organization that brings veterans suffering with PTSD into motorcycling.
Let’s get together to make more new riders!
