BUFFALO CHIP VEHICLE and TRAFFIC POLICY

 

Safety is of the highest priority at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® during the Rally. Please refer to the campground map for further clarification. Read campground policies for further information on other policies and procedures.

FREE PARKING 
Free parking is available at the East end of the campground, East of 132nd Anyone arriving in a four-wheeled vehicle who does not intend to camp and does not have a vehicle camping pass will be required to park in the Free East Parking Lot.

CAMPING ENTRY 
The Camping Entrance at the West Gate is located off 131st entrance through which those intending to camp overnight will be admitted into the campground. Anyone intending to camp must first pick up admission passes and other registration materials at the West Box Office, whether or not they have registered in advance. Each RV with a reservation will be then escorted from the West Box Office to the space reserved for them inside the campground. 

All vehicles are subject to search upon entry and while vehicles are on the festival grounds. It is against State Law to bring outside alcohol onto the licensed premises. Weapons must be surrendered and checked in at the WEST Gate for storage during your stay. No animals are allowed.

VEHICLE CAMPING PASS 
A vehicle camping pass is required for all four-wheeled vehicles intending to camp at the Buffalo Chip. This vehicle pass can be picked up at the West Box Office located at the West Gate. Passes must be adhered to the camping vehicle’s window in order to enter. Due to safety concerns and high traffic activity, this sticker will only authorize admission at the West Gate for campers’ four-wheeled vehicles if entry or re-entry is before 7:30 p.m. All vehicles must remain non-mobile at the campsite and are not be used after 7:30 p.m.

AFTER HOURS TRAFFIC 
TRAVEL WITHIN THE CAMPGROUND BY LICENSED FOUR-WHEELED MOTOR VEHICLES IS FORBIDDEN AFTER 7:30 P.M. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND HIGH VOLUMES OF RALLY TRAFFIC ACTIVITY. After this time, motorized traffic within the campground is restricted to motorcycles, trikes, small recreational 4-wheelers, golf carts and vehicles designed to assist those with physical limitations. Authorized service and emergency vehicles are the sole exception. All cars, pickups, trucks, RVs, busses and specialty vehicles must remain parked from 7:30 p.m. until dawn. Failure to comply could result in your vehicle being removed and not re-admitted into the campground under any circumstances.

Four-wheeled vehicles arriving after 7:30 p.m. will be required to park overnight in the Free East Parking Lot located to the East of 132nd arriving at the West Box Office after 7:30 p.m. in a car, pickup, truck, bus or other four-wheeled vehicle will be able to complete their registration at the West Box Office. Following registration, guests’ vehicles will be routed to the Free East Parking Lot. Rally guests may elect to camp with or inside their vehicle in the parking lot that evening. Four-wheeled vehicles with camping stickers may then return to the West Gate after 6:00 a.m. the following day to enter the Sturgis Buffalo Chip campground and set up camp.

NON-CAMPING GUESTS 
Unless on motorcycles, non-camping guests must park at the Free East 
Parking Lot for the concerts and other entertainment, and then walk into the amphitheater. Guests can ride their motorcycle or trike through the West Gate. NOTE: There is no amphitheater parking at the West Gate of the campground.

AMPHITHEATER ENTRY 
Only pedestrians, motorcycles, trikes, delivery vehicles, emergency vehicles and vehicles designed to assist those with physical limitations will be allowed inside the amphitheater.  This policy is subject to change at any time without notice.  There will be times, such as for heavily attended concerts, when motorcycles, trikes and delivery vehicles will also be prohibited from entry into the Amphitheater.  Failure to comply could result in your vehicle being confiscated until your departure and you not being re-admitted into the campground or amphitheater under any circumstances for the duration of the Festival.

EAST GATE ENTRY 
The East Gate entrance is restricted to pedestrians. Only foot traffic will be admitted into the campground, including the amphitheater, through the East Gate. Admissions from the East must park motor vehicles in the Free East Ave. Guests initially Parking Lot located to the East of 132nd East Gate Entrance.

EXITING THE CAMPGROUND 
Those exiting from the amphitheater or the northern part of the campground will exit onto 132nd Event Center. Those exiting from the southern parts of the campground will exit onto 132nd also an exit to 131st  Ave. and walk from the parking lot to the  Ave. by crossing the dam at the North end of the Big Lake and  Ave. alongside the North boundary of the South 40 RV Park. There is  Ave. just East of the Main Admissions Office.
