Legendary rock musician Leon Russell will join George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Buffalo Chip Campground during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Russell’s more than 50-year career includes historic efforts as a singer, songwriter, musician, band leader and producer. As a session musician, arranger, producer, songwriter, singer, pianist, guitarist, bandleader and touring musician he has collaborated with hundreds of popular artists including George Harrison, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson, Barbra Streisand, Ike & Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Steve Winwood and many more.
In 1970, He founded Shelter Records with Denny Cordell and released his, self-titled solo album, with guest musicians Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. That album contained Russell’s classic tunes “A Song For You,” “Hummingbird,” and “Delta Lady.”
