Mark Farner,formerly of Grand Funk Railroadwill join a classic rock three-day weekend with Peter Rivera of Rare Earth, Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf and Mike Pinera of Iron Butterfly and Blues Image on Friday, July 31 during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. A classic rock performer of epic stature will perform Saturday, Aug. 1 and will be announced on Friday, June 12. And Sunday, Sturgis Rally classic rock fans will be treated to Creedence Clearwater Revisited and George Thorogood will play on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Farner and his band Grand Funk Railroad hit the bigtime when he was only 20. Seventeen albums were recorded and 25 million records sold. Hits include “Bad Time,” “Some Kind Of Wonderful,” “We’re An American Band,” “Mean Mistreater,” “Foot-Stompin’ Music,” “Loco-motion,” and of course “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home).”
