You Got that Right – Lynyrd Skynyrd to Rock 2014 Sturgis Buffalo Chip Rall

Sturgis, SD (September 3, 2013) – The Sturgis Buffalo Chip® announces that legendary Southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, plans to return for the campground’s 33rd annual Motorcycle and Music Festival. The Sturgis Rally may have only concluded a few weeks ago, but the Buffalo Chip is already busy planning concerts and events to make sure its 2014 festival is bigger and better. Each year, the Sturgis campground finds new ways to pack in more events, crazier contests and bigger names in music. The timely announcement of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s upcoming performance sets the bar high for the next upcoming festival announcements.

Originally formed in 1964 by a group of rebellious teens, Lynyrd Skynyrd is now considered one of the most respected bands in rock ‘n’ roll—often credited with the creation and popularization of the Southern rock music genre. Skynyrd blends together gritty blues-based rock and traditional country undertones, employing lyrics that celebrate the values, dreams and excesses of the Southern working-class.

The quintessential Southern rock band, Skynyrd comes to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip toting a deep catalog of universally known hit songs including “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Saturday Night Special,” “You Got That Right,” “What’s Your Name,” “Smokestack Lightning,” “Simple Man,” “They Call Me the Breeze,” “Gimme Three Steps” and “Freebird.”

“Lynyrd Skynyrd delivers an honest down-to-earth message that our guests really relate to,” says Rod Woodruff, president of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “You wanna talk about ‘Freebird?’ During Rally week, we have an entire campground filled with ‘Freebirds.’”

The Buffalo Chip has pulled out all the stops to show its patrons a good time for over 32 years. “Chipsters,” as returning guests are affectionately called, say that the lifelong memories made during the annual nine-day festival are impossible to attach a price tag to and it’s an experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else.

The Buffalo Chip’s Lynyrd Skynyrd announcement is the first of many to come from the Sturgis campground this the year. The 33rd annual Motorcycle and Music Festival will again deliver nine days of non-stop entertainment Aug. 1-9, 2014. Camping passes are on sale now, and all concerts are free with camping.
