1. The Donut Burger

Defying the laws of tradition can create some interesting results, and the Donut Burger from Kimm-ee’s Fry Stand is no exception. The marriage of a savory beef patty, crispy bacon and melted cheese smashed between two glazed donuts will create a heavenly flavor explosion that will have you smitten from the first bite. Find them in the amphitheater and fall in love with food all over again.

2. Pulled Pork Parfait

Your eyes do not deceive you– this is a large cup overflowing with tender pulled pork, tangy barbecue sauce and fluffy mashed potatoes, swirled beautifully together into a blissful concoction of culinary delight. This is the pulled pork parfait from Porky’s BBQ, and it’s a monstrous meaty meal in a cup. Pick one of these up and stroll about the amphitheater and pig out while you rock out.

3. Texas-Style Smoked Brisket

Blow your mind in one bite of this savory slow-smoked, Texas-style brisket at the SpeakEasy, the Chip’s air-conditioned steakhouse and wine bar run by Executive Chefs Gunter Schnepp and Jon Fearon from the acclaimed Enigma Restaurant in Rapid City. Enjoy this unique cut of meat along with savory steaks, sandwiches, salads and refreshing desserts all in the comfort of the air-conditioned easygoing atmosphere.

4. Bomb Ass Burritos

(Near the Patriot Pavilion)

Simply put, you must not miss the food from the Bonafide Foods truck. Thankfully the painting of a jolly spoon and plate skipping through a tranquil mountain scene on its side will make that hard to do. All of their chef-inspired recipes utilize high quality ingredients, locally sourced when possible, and they are so beautifully prepared you’ll be just as tempted to photograph your food as you will be to devour it. Items you’ll definitely want to check out are the Bomb Ass Burritos and the Chilaquiles, a scrumptious Meixcan-inspired breakfast dish with fresh cheese, salsa, eggs and tortilla strips and more.

5. Frozen Arnold Palmer
Michell’s Homemade Ice Cream

(Located at the CrossRoads)

August afternoons in the Black Hills of South Dakota can get HOT, and on days like those nothing hits the spot better than something ice cold and sweet. Michell’s Homemade Ice Cream offers a variety of delectable frosty concoctions to cool your sweet tooth, including homemade ice cream, banana splits, root beer floats, flurries, shakes and sundaes. However their most unique eat is their frozen Arnold Palmer. Be sure to track them down at CrossRoads and try one when the sun is beating down on you.

6. Hawaiian Pulled Pork Burrito
Wanda’s Kitchen

Wanda’s Kitchen is a new local business in the area and a new vendor at the Buffalo Chip, but they are far from being green when it comes to whipping up delicious home-cooked dishes with a bit of a Colorado kick. Taco burgers, bean burritos, Huevos Rancheros, and green chili are some of the items you can find on their menu, but perhaps the most unique among these dishes is the Hawaiian pulled pork burrito. You can’t go wrong with anything from Wanda’s Kitchen, so swing by their location in the CrossRoads and give them a try.

7. Lobster Mac & Cheese
Tee’s Concessions

(Located at Bikini Beach & Amphitheater)

Tee’s Concessions lobster mac & cheese is the perfect marriage between high class and down home. Creamy mac & cheese topped with shredded, tender and oh-so-flavorful lobster will make you want to go back for as many helpings as you can gulp down. But don’t limit yourself– they also offer delectable pulled pork mac & cheese if seafood isn’t your thing.

8. Saint Lucia Big Bite breakfast buffet
Santa Lucia Mediterranean Grill

(Located in the Amphitheater & CrossRoads)

The Saint Lucia Big Bite breakfast buffet offers fresh-squeezed orange juice, fruit juices and more for those looking to start their day the Mediterranean way. Santa Lucia Mediterranean Grill offers lean meats and grilled vegetables served in fresh gyros for folks seeking healthier options. Add extra flavor with fresh-squeezed juices to take your gyro to the next level.

9. The “David Bowie” Pizza

Ground control to Major Tom, the David Bowie from Pie for the People is so tasty that after one bite you’ll want to put on your red shoes and dance. White sauce, mozzarella, bacon, roasted pineapple, jalapeños, Guinness-caramelized onions and topped with plum sauce, this pie is one of the most unique slices you’ll find anywhere. In fact, if you think you’re going to find a better slice of pizza anywhere else during the Sturgis rally, you can "fuhgeddaboudit!" If the David Bowie doesn’t sound like your thing, then try the Dean Martin, Buffalo Soldier, Barry White or make it your own with everything from basil and garlic to pepperoni and sausage.

10. Frisbee Nachos

The famous Frisbee nachos at the Buffalo Grill are conceptually simple– a heaping pile of delicious nachos with all the fixin’s served atop a usable Frisbee, But it’s not just the concept that makes them so good, it’s the healthy and delicious 100% pure Buffalo products they use in the nachos, burgers and brats. A trip to the Chip just wouldn’t be complete without stopping by the Buffalo Grill. Catering is offered to large groups as well.

11. Rebel Yell ‘n’ Apple Pie Gourmet Caramel Apple

Bite into paradise with the only apple you need to be over 21 to buy–the Rebel Yell ‘n’ Apple Pie Gourmet Caramel Apple. In addition to this unique Tennessee bourbon-laced confection, Caramel Creations offers a variety of caramel apples with different toppings making each unique apple a flavorful masterpiece. 

12. Heavy Metal Brew
Coffee Crib

(Located in the Amphitheater)

For some folks, hard rock music is the only stimulant they need. But for the rest of us who need a little kick every now and again, the Heavy Metal brew from the Coffee Crib is the perfect marriage of both. When you’re head banging to some great concerts this year, make sure you try some– it will rock your socks off! Located right next to Caramel Creations, the Coffee Crib brews delicious joe from the Sturgis Coffee Company and serves it up to you at a prime viewing distance of the Wolfman Jack Stage.

And if you’re into slightly more standard fare, don’t worry– the Chip features a ton of food vendors, serving all dishes of just about every variety that’ll please everyone from the most adventurous eaters all the way to guy or gal content with eating the same thing every day of their entire lives.
