For the last 11 years, some of the world’s most meticulously crafted and elaborate custom motorcycles and related artwork have made their way to the legendary Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Rally by way of the Chip’s Motorcycles As Art™ exhibit, curated by renowned motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. The exhibit’s 2019 theme, “What’s The Skinny,” displayed the creations of nearly 40 custom motorcycle builders and artists and proved that thinking thin and minimal can produce some of the most breathtaking custom motorcycles. The entire automotive world had the air let out of our tires and our hearts run over early this morning with news that Jessi Combs had died. She was known in part as the “Fastest Woman on Four Wheels” for her 398 mph land speed record in the North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger. It was a crash during her attempt to beat this record in a 52,000 horsepower, jet-powered car that resulted in her untimely departure from this earth on August 27, 2019.
