Debbie Lee is an author, public speaker and political activist who understands first hand the sacrifice our troops make, and that freedom isn’t free. On Aug. 2, 2006 she was notified that her son, Marc Alan Lee, had been killed in action, becoming the first Navy SEAL killed in Iraq. Since that day, Lee has dedicated her life to honoring our troops and the families of the fallen. Lee made history just a year after Marc died by being the first Gold Star mom to visit the battleground in Iraq where her son was killed. Lee has been interviewed over 2000 times and is considered a subject matter expert on the needs of Gold Star families. She works tirelessly to ensure our troops and military and Gold Star families have access important services that improve resiliency and recovery after loss.
