Meet Ellie Rains

MIDWEST WOMEN RIDERS FOUNDER
RIDE CO-CAPTAIN – 2021

My first moto experience was a mini bike as a young girl in the 60’s.

In my teen years (the 70’s) it was my my boyfriend (husband of 43 yrs now) who really fueled my fire for dirt and street riding.

Fast forward to 2008, purchased my first Harley, a 2008 Deluxe. It was then that I became a serious rider. Long distance riding quickly became an addiction. The open road gave me the true feeling of being empowered and freedom.

Soon realizing  many ladies were riding their own as well, which led me to creating Midwest Women Riders, a grassroots community formed in 2008. The relaxed community quickly grew as ladies were excited to have a group where they could discuss, organize rides, support one another and have a sisterhood with a “participate when you want” format.

Since the founding of MWR, it wasn’t long after that the Women Riders USA community was formed in 2012 to unite women who ride and those that have a strong desire to ride their own. The principle of Women Riders USA is to share, learn and inspire while creating a sisterhood of unity, loyalty and respect. Promoting the group while traveling and using social networking has been successful in building the community over the years while having the opportunity to meet members personally.

Our annual weekend charity event hosted by Midwest Women Riders  brings in ladies from all over the country which has grown to well over 600 attendees in 2023.

Highly respected among the motorcycle community, Midwest Women Riders continues to unite women who ride and inspire women to ride their own.

I’m Ellie Rains, wife, mom, grandma and a motorcycle rider!
