Meet Tim Sylvia

UFC Heavyweight Champion

Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, world-class combat sports athlete, television host, and one of the most dominant big men of the early modern MMA era.

Standing 6’8”, Sylvia rose from Ellsworth, Maine to become a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion, first capturing the title in 2003 with a knockout victory over Ricco Rodriguez and later reclaiming the championship in 2006 with a first-round stoppage of Andrei Arlovski. Across his UFC championship runs, Sylvia defended the belt multiple times and competed in nine heavyweight title bouts, cementing his place among the division’s most active champions.

From his UFC debut in 2002 through his championship reigns and headline fights against legends such as Randy Couture, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Andrei Arlovski, Sylvia built a reputation for durability, knockout power, and relentless toughness inside the Octagon.

Over a professional MMA career spanning more than a decade, Sylvia compiled a 31-10 record while competing against many of the top heavyweights of his generation.

Following his MMA career, Sylvia continued competing in combat sports, capturing a Super Heavyweight slap-fighting championship and proving once again that his knockout power and warrior mentality transcend disciplines.

Outside the fight game, Sylvia has built a successful second act in television and outdoor entertainment as the longtime host of Hit Squad Outdoors, now running for 10 seasons, where he combines his passion for hunting, the outdoors, and American lifestyle storytelling with his larger-than-life personality.

Today, Tim Sylvia remains a sought-after personality for appearances, speaking engagements, outdoor programming, combat sports commentary, and brand partnerships — a true heavyweight champion both in competition and in life.
