Wayne R. Mundt of Spearfish, South Dakota, is the proud father of four boys. He and his wife Patti have been married for fifty years. He served in Vietnam with the Fourth Infantry Division and 2/327th Infantry and 101st Airborne Division in 1970 and 1971. During his service, Specialist Mundt was awarded medals for his efforts and valor during some of the most intense encounters occurring during the Spring of 1971. He was wounded three separate times, never leaving the field. Those medals, among others, include the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star, the third-highest personal decoration for valor in combat.
