WAR Brings the Funk to Chip Music Festival Finale Aug. 8 during Sturgis Rally

Get Funked Up During the Final Night of Sturgis Concerts at the Chip

I want to reserve now!

After raging for eight straight nights, the gritty, good old-fashioned sounds of WAR will give you enough juice to make sure you get seriously funked up during the festival farewell. These living legends will close out the lineup of Sturgis concerts on the Wolfman Jack Stage on Saturday, Aug. 8 following performances by Adelitas Way and Nicnos. The group’s fusion of funk, rock, Latin, reggae, and rhythm and blues will have you getting down until the final note of the Chip’s music festival resonates through the amphitheater.

WAR is not just a band; WAR is a movement that’s spanned six decades. After forming in 1969, the group quickly became a leading voice of early ‘70s musical protest. The band used their instruments and voices to speak out against the issues negatively affecting the world around them and to promote hope, harmony and the spirit of brotherhood. Delivering their lyrics through a laid-back, California funk vibe gave WAR an enormous platform for spreading their message.

Hits like “Low Rider,” “The World is a Ghetto,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?,” “Spill the Wine,” “The Cisco Kid,” “Me and Baby Brother,” and “All Day Music” drew the attention and admiration of millions including Jimi Hendrix, who performed with WAR the day before his untimely death. Whether you’ve been listening to WAR since the age of Hendrix or discovered their music through their 2014 studio release “Evolutionary,” the experience of partying with WAR to close out the Chip’s music festival will be un-funking-believable.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the grand finale of the biggest bash in Buffalo Chip history. Reserve your passes now!
