This family friendly event is open to the public, Saturday, Aug. 3 from 4-6 pm. With a $5 entrance fee, attendants get the satisfaction of both filling up on the best in South Dakota buffalo chili and knowing their contribution will help to provide nutritious meals for area seniors.

Upon entry, each chili cook-off attendant receives a voting bean. Attendants may sample as many of the contestants’ chili as they would like, and then deposit this bean into a container to vote for their favorite contestant. And if it’s too close to call, additional beans for further voting may be purchased for $2. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and best decorated booth will be awarded at 6 pm.

Both professional and burgeoning cooks are encouraged participate—putting their chili recipes to the test using South Dakota buffalo. Registration is $45 and Western Buffalo Company has generously donated the buffalo meat for contestants to feature in their pot. All preparation and cooking must take place on site beginning at 10 am.
