Lukas Nelson joins the legendary music festival’s lineup at the chip with country superstar Eric Church on the main stage Wednesday Aug. 8th. The Southern-folk-rock group Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, released their full-length self-titled debut CD Promise of the Real December 21, 2010. The album features nine original tracks, including the kick-off track and first single “Four Letter Word” and the surf rock jam “Start To Go.” It also features unique renditions of some of Lukas’ favorite music: “L.A.” by Neil Young, and a mash-up of sorts of two Jimi Hendrix songs, “Pali Gap” and “Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)”.

After an extensive tour in 2011, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real worked up brand new songs they developed into an album that reflects the energy of the band’s live shows and demonstrates the colorful textures that have built upon the band’s rock and roll foundation.

WASTED, released April 3, 2012, is a collection of songs inspired by the band’s time on the road that explores the vulnerabilities of life and serves as a reminder to keep rocking, and staying true to your path. Staying true to their paths, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real will perform 200 dates in 2012 and Lukas puts in a little overtime as a featured guest on another 2012 release – Willie Nelson’s Heroes, released May 15, 2012.

“Lukas Nelson & Promise of the real was one of the performances that the festival crowd loved and really stood out in 2011,” says Rod Woodruff, owner of Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “We’re excited to bring them back again for 2012 and look forward to their new songs.”
