ZZ Top returns to rock the stage at The Legendary Buffalo Chip Sunday, Aug. 4

The Legendary Buffalo Chip presents Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member ZZ Top, who is a favorite of Buffalo Chip campers and concert goers, as one of the many bands to play the Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling. ZZ Top is only the beginning of what is sure to be a legendary concert lineup for the 2013 music festival set for Aug. 2-11, 2013.

ZZ Top was formed in Houston in 1969 and has been known as “That Little Ol’ Band from Texas.” ZZ Top is one of the longest running major rock bands with all of the original members intact, Billy F. Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard. ZZ Top is recognizable by their mix of rock, blues, and down home boogie sound and they have sold millions of albums over their 40-year career.

ZZ Top was formed out of two rival bands in 1969, Billy’s Moving Sidewalks and Frank and Dusty’s American Blues. Their first couple of albums were named “ZZ Top’s First Album” and “Rio Grande Mud” to showcase their strong blues roots. Their third album, “Tres Hombres,” was released in 1973. The band released album number four, “Fandango!” in 1975. Their Texas pride showed through in their “World Wide Texas Tour,” which featured a longhorn steer, a buffalo, buzzards, rattlesnakes, and a Texas-shaped stage.

After making a change in record labels, the band released five more albums, introducing grungy guitar-based blues and synth-pop into their traditional blues sound. The band made the changes successful and maintained their strong fan base. Another record label change brought the release of three additional albums.

Sturgis rally Concert goers can plan on hearing hits such as “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Legs,” “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Tush” and “La Grange.” ZZ Top boasts six number one singles, four gold, three platinum, and two multi-platinum album certifications, in addition to one diamond album. Many of their songs have gone on to reach classic rock immortality.

ZZ Top is currently prepping the release of “La Futura,” the bands first album in nine years, which will be released in the fall of 2012. The band’s internal mantra, “Tone, Taste, and Tenacity,” express how they have been able to keep their sound fresh through the years and still be a band that knows how to rock.

ZZ Top’s music is easily recognizable, powerful, soulful and 100 percent Texas American.
