The 75th anniversary of the Sturgis Rally will be one for the history books, and as your 75th to-do list grows, you might be wondering, “What am I doing to help MAKE history at this event?” Well, your opportunity to contribute to a piece of history has just presented itself. On Aug. 6, 2015, you can be a part of the 1,000 bikers and bikes joining together to commemorate the 75th Sturgis Rally and the strength and beauty of America by creating the world’s largest human and motorcycle eagle at the Buffalo Chip’s CrossRoads.
Eagle 75 is absolutely free to participate in and is presented by the Black Hills Clean Water Alliance in conjunction with the Buffalo Chip and Spectral Q. Spectral Q founder John Quigley has created more than 200 aerial art images involving 200,000 people on all seven continents, but the creation of Eagle 75 is by far one of his most ambitious endeavors.
This large-scale tableau forming a giant eagle the size of a football field was inspired by the famous “Human American Eagle” photo taken in 1918 with more than ten thousand soldiers and nurses. The 2015 recreation will be photographed from a helicopter to memorialize the momentous 75th anniversary of the Sturgis Rally.
Participation in Eagle 75 is on a first-come-first-served basis.
