How Can I obtain a press pass?

Go to the “Press Pass and Media Credentials” Page, fill out the application AND a signed copy of the release form and submit both. You will be notified as quickly as possible if your pass has been issued.

Who is qualified to receive a press pass?

If you are an employed member of the press, contributing to an active news source, and can provide samples of your recent work, you are eligible. If you are a self-employed writer or photographer you will be asked to provide samples of, or a link to, your recent work along with details of your assignment that includes covering Buffalo Chip events. If you contribute to a website you will be asked to provide qualified visitation and impression numbers for that site.

Where do I pick up my press pass?

You may pick up preauthorized press passes at the West Gate Box Office Will Call Window, which is at the far north of the building. There is a sign over that window identifying it as the “Media Pass Window.”

Does my press pass include camping or accommodations?

All campground passes include tent camping. If you plan to bring an RV, bike trailer, camper, etc. you will need to purchase a site through the box office. Reservations are recommended. Cabins and rental RVs may be available for rental through the box office as well.

Does my press pass include concerts and events?

All campground passes include all concerts and events inside the campground.

Can I get backstage for interviews, or in the pit to shoot photos?

Press passes do not give the wearer full access. Backstage passes are very limited and nearly impossible to obtain. A limited number of passes to shoot performers from the pit in front of the stage are available from the press office, but these need to be requested well in advance and approved by each band/performer. If you have not made arrangements to meet an authorized Chip staff member and be escorted into the pit for specific photos, you will not be allowed in. You may arrange interviews and photo sessions with performers through their press agent or tour manager directly. Any required passes for special access must come through that contact and will not be provided by the Chip.
