Signature Events

Biker Belles - This Legendary Buffalo Chip premiere event, presented by Harley-Davidson, celebrates women riders everywhere and gives them the opportunity to ride together. The event features a symposium of leading women in the industry and a beautiful August ride through the Black Hills.

Legends Ride - This annual ride brings together anyone who loves riding and alongside celebrities to support local charities. The ride travels from Historic Deadwood, through the beautiful Black Hill to the Legendary Buffalo Chip. Proceeds from the ride go to benefit the Black Hills Special Olympics and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame. Celebrities that have made appearances on this ride in the past include Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Neil Schon of the rock band Journey, stunt daredevil Robbie Knieval, the Ness family just to name a few.

Motorcycles As Art - The Motorcycles as Art exhibit is an annual revolving Buffalo Chip motorcycle show and specialty exhibit curated by motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. The exhibit is displayed each year in the 7,000 square foot Lichter Exhibition Hall during the Buffalo Chip’s annual August music festival. The Motorcycles as Art has become a highly celebrated sturgis event.

Student Build Challenge – The Student Build challenge works to equip students with knowledge and experience through a unique motorcycle mentorship program chopper class. Students from Sturgis Brown High School work on building a custom motorcycle, which is then auctioned off during the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally and August music festival in support of the Legends Ride.

Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show - Do you have a unique bike that you think is worthy of recognition? Enter it into the oldest and most prestigious bike show in existence and your motorcycle could win! Bikes from some of the best bike builders in the world are pitted against each other in this custom bike show that takes place at the CrossRoads at the Buffalo Chip during the Chip’s August music festival.

Harley Owners Group  - Harley Owners unite in this exclusive Sturgis event at the Russ Brown Event Center at the Buffalo Chip, which includes exclusive parking, an exclusive party with complimentary food, Motorcycles as Art exhibition and a headlining concert from one of the top names in the music industry.

Zip the Chip Zip Line – You can take a ride down one of the most exciting Sturgis events during the motorcycle rally, the zip line at the Buffalo Chip, soaring high above the packed Wolfman Jack Amphitheater on any night of the 9 nights of live music. Get a birds eye view of your favorite band, fly over the August music festival crowd with a view that is only for the bravest souls!

Pro Hill Climb - Are hill climb motorcycles more your thing? Imagine feeling the wind push against you as you open the throttle on your bike and race up the hill as fast you can like the Nitro National Pro Hill Climbers do. Get your blood pumping, check out the hill climb at the Buffalo Chip’s sports complex for the two days of the Sturgis hill climb events at the Legendary Buffalo Chip.

Guns of Freedom - Ever wanted to see and feel what it was like to shoot a military grade machine gun? Now’s your chance at the shooting event of the century at the Buffalo Chip Shooting Range. You will also be able to get the training required to obtain a 35 state concealed carry permit.

Wall of Death - Don’t miss the death defying stunt man from Daredevils Unlimited/American Hellriders, showing off his tricks on the back of his motorcycle, at the CrossRoads at the Buffalo Chip. Experience the thrills, chills, and spills and maybe even some doctor bills at this show that takes place within a large wooden barrel as part of the Buffalo Chip’s August music festival events!

Husker Helicopter - See the Buffalo Chip like no one else, from high above the campground. Take a ride in a helicopter around the campground and get an aerial view of the party and where you’re staying from inside this state of the art Eurocopter from Columbus, Nebraska.

Monster Truck Rides - The opportunity to see the Legendary Buffalo Chip from a view unlike any other. Ride around the campground from inside the bed of a Monster Truck, sitting 10 feet above the ground with a 1500 Horsepower engine roaring and hard rock music blaring for everyone to see you coming!

Midget Bowling - This one of a kind event, like you’ve never experienced before, can only be found at the Buffalo Chip during its August music festival. You’ve bowled a bowling ball before but have you ever bowled a midget? Well now’s your chance. If you take part in this legendary bowling experience you can take your turn tossing Short Sleeved Sampson down the greased up lane to bowl a strike!

Lingerie for Life – This unique auction of bras on live models is held each night, auctioning off specially made bras that are worn by bartenders at the Buffalo Chip during the August music festival. Proceeds from the unique bras go towards helping cancer awareness.

Rolling Sturgis - Roller Derby is one of the nation’s fastest growing sports and the Legendary Buffalo Chip has caught the fever with these popular Sturgis events. Check out the sexy roller derby athletes as they perform each day at the CrossRoads at the Buffalo Chip. You will not want to miss this adrenaline filled show!

Fan Fest – This party is for you this August. You mean the world to us and to say thank you, the Buffalo Chip with guest host Iron Cowgirl Missy throws this party as a way for all of our social media and real life fans to hang out together and be treated to live music, free swag products, and games. Military Tributes

Freedom Celebration - For 25 years, the Legendary Buffalo Chip has been home to the largest Freedom Celebration during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that features various events such as the raising of a 30’x58’ 60 pound flag at the entrance of a campground and the honoring of military on the Wolfman Jack stage before the Sturgis rally headline concert takes the stage.

The celebration is a spectacular show of appreciation that has involved concert artists such as Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty,  activities such as gun salutes, parachuters, jet fly overs and has celebrated charity support from the likes of the Bob Woodruff Foundation and others. Even presidential candidate John McCain has attended.

Battle Field Cross, Field of Flags – The Field of Flags, a field of nearly 1,000 flags, stands majestically around the Battlefield Cross and in front of the Veterans Memorial Wall paying tribute to the military currently serving our country. The flags can be seen fluttering in the wind daily.

American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall - The American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) Wall is set up each year during the August music festival and motorcycle rally as a veteran’s tribute to honor those that have fallen in the line of duty. The memorial wall sits amidst the Buffalo Chips Field of Flags and Battlefield Cross and is engraved with the names of those that have fallen.

Rock the Holidays guitar sweepstakes - Make this holiday one that they will remember forever with the Rock the Holidays guitar sweepstakes. You could win a custom Buffalo Chip themed Epiphone guitar, signed by various bands that perform at the premiere spot for Sturgis rally concerts, the Legendary Buffalo Chip. The Poster Model Search begins at the beginning of each calendar year and the girl that wins will be the face of the Buffalo Chip, appearing on everything from posters to billboards.
