Sturgis, SD (Aug. 3, 2014) – The Buffalo Chip PowerSports Complex will open today to give motorsports fans more horsepower than they bargained for. Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulls kick off the jam-packed week of events with 7,000 horsepower engines exploding in a show of power as they drag weighted sleds down the track during the “Thunder at the Chip.” These are not your grandpa’s farm implements. These chrome encrusted tractors and trucks have been modified from the ground up to produce insane amounts of horsepower and torque for maximum pulling power.
Motorsports fans will get more than their fair share of extreme engines, insane speed and colossal crashes during the week of high-powered competitions including TORC: The Off Road Championship, the Nitro National Pro Hill Climb, AMA Extreme Dirt Track ATV Races as well as the Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pulls. Guests can look forward to seeing the nation’s top motorsport athletes competing for the title on some unusual and impressive machines including 900-horsepower, off-road, race trucks, nitro-injected Harleys with steel-bolted paddle tires, and 7,000-horsepower tractors equipped with jet engines.

The Sturgis Buffalo Chip, in partnership with TORC, will be staging an official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at the new Buffalo Chip PowerSports Complex on Monday, Aug. 4 at 10am. The public is encouraged to attend, meet TORC drivers and see for themselves the most challenging track on the TORC circuit.
Professional TORC track builder, Jeff Nordstrom, constructed the Buffalo Chip’s PowerSports Complex anchor track on a hillside near the edge of the venue in order to provide spectators incredible viewing and challenge racers with a unique track filled with staggering elevation changes and obstacles. The exceptional features afforded by the natural terrain and the rare land-rush, drop-in start make for a TORC track unlike any other in the series.
