The bike you ride can say a lot about you. It complements your style of riding and is an undeniable expression of your personality. Or at least it can with the right customizations. So if you’d like to make your motorcycle truly your own, check out these six customization ideas from renowned builder, Cory Ness of Arlen Ness Motorcycles!

1. Decide on a Theme
When customizing Ness Motorcycles, Cory likes to start with an idea and follow it through the whole motorcycle from front to back. This is precisely what he did when customizing the 2014 Victory Cross Country® 8-Ball for the Buffalo Chip’s 2014 Sturgis Rider® Sweepstakes. Enter the sweepstakes now and you could be riding off on this one-of-a-kind custom, complete with its own matching Epiphone Les Paul Studio Guitar!

2. Focus on Paint
The right paint scheme can have the most dramatic effect of the cosmetics of a bike, and the hotrod flame theme on the Sturgis Rider Sweepstakes bike has some major attitude! Kirk Taylor of Custom Design Studios gave the bike this smokin’ hot paint job and La Pera continued the theme with a custom black seat featuring flame stitching.

3. Choose Unique Parts
An 8-Ball is all about being blacked out and having lots of attitude, so Cory decided to take it a step further and give the Sturgis Rider Sweepstakes bike all black custom Ness parts including RAD III Teardrop Mirrors, Beveled Derby Cover, Deep Cut Floorboards, and Deep Cut Muffler Tips.

4. Stay Consistent to One Design
Cory first chose a 23″ Ness beveled front wheel and 16″ real wheel for the motorcycle, then chose beveled accessories to match including footpegs, rear master cylinder reservoir, grips, gas cap, Victory cam cover, round shift rod and license plate frame.

5. Modify the Front End and Add a Larger Wheel
The Sturgis Rider Sweepstakes bike features a large Ness 23″ front beveled wheel wrapped with a 23″ Ness front fender. Cory Ness put in six degree raked triple trees in order to have room for the large hoop.

6. Think About Ergonomics and Functionality
It’s important that a bike rides and feels as good as it looks, which is why Cory Ness installed adjustable ape hanger handlebars. That way any Sturgis Rider Sweepstakes winner will be able to ride away comfortably.
