Sturgis, S.D. (November 1, 2011) – The Sturgis Buffalo Chip® will once again kick off the  annual Sturgis Rally with its premier charity event – the 5th annual Legends Ride on Monday, August 6th, 2012. The Ride That Rocks™ has sold out annually, with tickets for the 2012 Legends Ride on sale November 8th 2011.

Legends Ride participants will join an array of celebrities, artists, builders, industry insiders and fellow riders from around the globe on this 55-mile scenic Black Hills ride from historic Deadwood, SD to the world famous Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

Since the first Legends Ride in 2008, the event has continually attracted many of the biggest names in show business as well as legends from the world of motorcycling. Past riders have included Aerosmith’s Frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler, “Big” Kenny of Big & Rich, comedic icon Pee-Wee Herman, America’s Favorite Survivor and Indiana Gubernatorial candidate Rupert Boneham, King of Custom Arlen Ness, as well as Brian and Laura Klock, and Hall of Fame member Michael Prugh, just to name a few.

Entering its 5th year, The Legends Ride has raised over $200,000 for local charities. This year’s contributions will again benefit local Black Hills Charities, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and the Black Hills Special Olympics.

“As always we are thrilled to bring back the Legends Ride for a fifth year,” says Rod Woodruff owner of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “There’s no better way to kick off the Sturgis Rally than riding with great people for a great cause.”

The 55-mile ride begins in Deadwood at the Deadwood Tobacco Company and the Silverado-Franklin Gaming Complex. The hospitality and atmosphere of Deadwood turns to the sites and sounds of the open road as riders make their way through the beautiful Black Hills to the heart of the Sturgis Rally at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. The Sturgis Buffalo Chip hosts a special Riders Reception and meal, live auction with one of a kind collectibles from the world of music and motorcycles as well as a major double-headline concert for all the riders of The Legends Ride to enjoy.

“The Legends Ride has grown and given back to charity tremendously in just four short years. The popularity of the event continues to grow, and we are grateful to be part of something that helps so many,” said George Milos, executive director of the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce & Visitor’s Bureau.
