Trimming the Fat from Custom Motorcycles in the 2019 Motorcycles As Art Exhibit

By Jeff Smith

For the last 11 years, some of the world’s most meticulously crafted and elaborate custom motorcycles and related artwork have made their way to the legendary Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Rally by way of the Chip’s Motorcycles As Art™ exhibit, curated by renowned motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. The exhibit’s 2019 theme, “What’s The Skinny,” displayed the creations of nearly 40 custom motorcycle builders and artists and proved that thinking thin and minimal can produce some of the most breathtaking custom motorcycles. Check out some of the builders and bikes below to see for yourself!
