In 2013, the allure of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® attracted the attention of numerous TV shows, including that of Velocity’s “Café Racer TV.” The show’s camera crews were on hand to document the Buffalo Chip’s annual Motorcycles As Art exhibition, curated by famed motorcycle photographer, Michael Lichter, and café racer expert, Paul D’Orleans. The hour-long special featuring this footage airs on Velocity on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. ET.

It was no surprise that Café Racer TV was drawn to this year’s Motorcycles As Art exhibition, since the theme was “Ton Up! – Speed, Style and Café Racer Culture.” The exhibit explored the origins of the Café Racer movement by featuring 32 famous café racers and a collection of Lichter’s photography from the original café racing scene that had never before been published.

The program filmed at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Rally will focus on Michael Lichter’s photography and the reasons he themed the 2013 Buffalo Chip exhibit on Café Racers. In addition, the show explores how café racers fit in with a Sturgis Rally crowd and asks both Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister and Willie G. Davidson weigh in on the work of Michael Lichter.

See the lasting impact of the Café Racer and relive the premier art exhibit of the Sturgis Rally! Tune in to Velocity on Dec. 4 at 10 p.m. ET, or catch the encore presentation of the show at Dec. 5 at 1 a.m. ET.
