From Screen to Stage – The Best Music Videos From The 2026 Buffalo Chip Lineup

Fun fact: The very first music video to be aired (Video Killed the Radio Star) was on MTV in 1981. Do you know what else made its debut in 1981 (and outlasted MTV itself)? The Sturgis Buffalo Chip. Coincidence? Maybe. Legendary? Absolutely.

Music videos are basically tiny little digital time machines. Some videos age like fine wine, others age like whatever is left in the cooler from the last rally. We sifted through decades of music videos to pick one standout for each band on the 2026 Buffalo Chip lineup so far.

Turn the volume up, make it full screen, and take a gander:

P.O.D. – Boom (2001)

YouTube player

If you’ve ever hyped yourself up for literally anything, you probably used this song. This video uses quick cuts of BMX-style performance shots like the whole concept was “what if adrenaline made a music video”. You can’t help but wonder if this chaotic energy is what their live show would be like. Spoiler alert: it is.

Halestorm – I Miss the Misery (2012)

YouTube player

If you notice, this music video has over 105M views. We’d attribute that impressive number to the song being a banger itself and to how it captures Lzzy Hale being a force of nature. It’s a masterclass on how this kind of frontwoman can carry both vocals and visuals.

Skillet – Monster (2009)

YouTube player

This video takes “having a rough day” to a whole new level… throwing the band into a creepy lab where they’re locked up, experimented on, and clearly not thrilled about it. As they inevitably break out (because of course they do), it turns into a chaotic reminder that sometimes your inner “monster” doesn’t just stay quietly bottled up… it kicks the door down and makes a scene.

Hairball – Live Highlights (2023)

YouTube player

There are cover bands… then there is THE cover band. Hairball performs hit after rock ‘n’ roll hit with the energy, talent, hair and outfits that you’d expect from the iconic rock bands they emulate. This video does a great job of showing you why they’re a national touring act that brings the glory of the ‘80’s from Kiss to Motley Crue to AC/DC and do it so well, you’ll forget it’s not the original.

YUNGBLUD – Zombie (2025)

YouTube player

This music video is a cinematic portrayal of emotional burnout and the fear of becoming unrecognizable to the people we love due to the toll of caring for others. The one and only Florence Pugh does an incredible job portraying the song’s deeper message about feeling like you’re fading but still wanting to be loved as you are. Not to mention, angel wings on a healthcare worker? Seems accurate.

YUNGBLUD & Aerosmith – My Only Angel (2026)

YouTube player

Sometimes there are too many good options to pick just one. After Ozzy Osbourne championed him early on, YUNGBLUD earned the respect of another all-time great: Steven Tyler. For Aerosmith to step back into the studio after years of silence and create something new is both rare and significant. This song is proof that the spirit of classic rock still hits just as hard and YUNGBLUD is built to carry it forward.

Drowning Pool  Bodies (2001)

YouTube player

This video is a visual and audio match made in heaven. Hearing “let the bodies hit the floor” repeated while watching claustrophobic camera angles and stark hospital scenery amplifies the intense, unsettling sound of Drowning Pool’s most iconic song and first-ever major hit.

Buckcherry Good Time (2023)

YouTube player

Why we didn’t see this video or the talented cast at the 2023 Oscars? Don’t ask me. We’ve all had a night where things got a little fuzzy and zombies were involved…it just wasn’t at a mansion with a really cool rock band. At least not in our experience.

Collective Soul – The World I Know (1995)

YouTube player

A beautiful song with an even better message portrayed in one powerful music video. Even in the ‘90s, the search for perspective and to embrace life despite its chaos and loneliness was yearned for… something we can still relate to in 2026.

Megadeth – Sweating Bullets (1992)

YouTube player

The whole infinity mirror element to this video really pulls you in, but then you realize they pulled these special effects off in the early ‘90’s. The fact that Megadeth achieved something this visually ambitious and unsettling with the tools of that era just makes it even more impressive (and entertaining).

The Biggest Hit in Van Halen History…
David Lee Roth as Frontman – Jump (1983)

YouTube player

When this video hit MTV in 1983, it brought the master of aerial splits and stage antics to fame for being the wildest frontman on earth, dropping fans around the world to their knees in Van Halen cult worship. The song went on to hit no. 1 on the Billboard Charts, win an MTV Music Award for Best Stage Performance, get a Grammy Nomination and earn a place on Rolling Stone and VH1’s Greatest Songs of All Time lists. This is a video you love from the very first synth note and spandex-wrapped leg split.

Lainey Wilson – Wildflowers & Wild Horses (2024)

YouTube player

This visually stunning, mini-Western film featuring Lainey Wilson constantly on the run leaves you wondering what she’s running from…and what is in that leather bag? It’s no surprise this video won the 2024 CMAs Music Video of the Year.

Lynyrd Skynyrd – Sweet Home Alabama – Live at Oakland Coliseum Stadium (1977)

YouTube player

Rather than releasing polished, studio-produced music videos, Lynyrd Skynyrd has always let their live performances, stage presence, and sheer atmosphere do the talking. The best part? Not a single phone in sight.

Van Halen – Panama (1984)

YouTube player

It would be a crime to not include the best music video from David Lee Roth’s legendary first run with Van Halen, though it was a very tough choice (Hot For Teacher is basically a work of art). This video showcases the iconic David Lee Roth chaos in the best way. What grabbed your attention first – the flying Jack Daniels guitar, the impressive smoke rings, or the pole sliding?

David Lee Roth – Yankee Rose (1985)

YouTube player

This wild music video perfectly captures the over-the-top visual spectacle David Lee Roth was known for with Van Halen, which makes sense, since it was co-directed by Pete Angelus, the creative force behind the band’s iconic style. Honestly, the video could’ve ended after the offbeat convenience store intro… that was our favorite part, hands down.

Honorable Mention: Lynyrd Skynyrd – Free Bird (2025)

YouTube player

This is the first official studio-produced music video from Lynyrd Skynyrd released just this year. It is a 9-minute piece of cinema featuring the best of nostalgia, storytelling, and the everlasting love of motorcycles. Come to think of it, Skynyrd, motorcycles, and the Chip all have one thing in common: they’re timeless. They’ve also all outlived MTV.
