Buffalo Chip Through the Decades: A Photo Journey

For generations of motorcyclists, there’s been one destination that stands above the rest when it comes to entertainment, good times, and camaraderie — the Legendary Buffalo Chip. More than just a campground or concert venue, it’s a homecoming for riders, rebels and road warriors from around the world. As the Chip celebrates decades of unforgettable memories, wild nights, and iconic moments, come along for the ride through the Buffalo Chip’s 45 years with photos that capture the heart, soul, and debauchery.

THE 80s

1982: When RVs and toy haulers were scarce.

1982: This picture is brought to you by Budweiser, probably.

1989: The Wall of Death is apparently immortal – it still runs every year at the Buffalo Chip CrossRoads.

1989: When the hairbands were hairing.

THE 90s

1997: WWE SLAW

1998: Any kind of two-wheeler was welcome…still is.

1998: Proof women have always been both badasses and trailblazers.

THE 2000s

2000: Do you believe in life after love? Do you believe Cher is in this photo taken backstage?

2000: When Robbie Kneivel made a death-defying jump through the new Wolfman Jack Main Stage. Who approved this?

2002: The amphitheater started to expand into what we know and love today.

2005: Tim McGraw looked like a Real Good (young) Man.

2008: It was a political time.

2009: Aerosmith’s performance was a trip. No really, he actually fell off the stage that night.

THE 2010s

2011: Stevie Nicks bewitched everyone.

2014: Jason Aldean made Big Green Tractors cool, this guy made them legendary. Then you saw a legendary performance of the song that’s now stuck in your head Aug. 6, 2025.

THE 2020s

2022: 8 seconds of glory…3 days of chiropractic regret.

2023: Roadkill couture: Summer collection

2024: Buffalo Chip’s Camp Zero–keeping things weird since 2018.

As these photos over the last five decades prove, legends aren’t just born here, they party here. Here’s to the miles behind us, the memories we’ve made and the rides still to come. See you at the next one.
