Budweiser Clydesdale

Budweiser and Buffalo Chip!

What would Buffalo Chip be without Budweiser? Not nearly as much fun, that’s what! And you’ll know that the good times are about to roll when you see those familiar Budweiser Clydesdale horses pulling that bright red beer wagon full of – what else? – Budweiser beer!

Ever since 1933 these beautiful powerhouses have been a symbol of Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser. Each year the hand-selected group of 10 lucky Clydesdales travel throughout the United States and they travel with many of the amenities reserved for Royalty. During their journeys they make appearances at parades down along Main Street and countless other special events including Sturgis Rally 2007.

The result of breeding a horse already known for its strength and dependability in the growing fields as well as the war fields, it didn’t take long for the Clydesdale to earn a reputation as the strongest horse ever. No other known breed had ever been capable of pulling a ton of cargo while walking nearly 5 miles per hour. That capability is what made this breed so desirable for hauling beer back in the early days.

Why folks are attracted to the Budweiser Clydesdales

Strong as these horses are, the Clydesdales that make up the Budweiser team exceed the dimensions of their early ancestors, standing nearly 6 feet or 18 hands high at their shoulders and weighing nearly 2,000 pounds. To be considered for the Budweiser Clydesdale team, a Clydesdale must meet certain requirements including a bay color, white coloring on the face as well as the bottom portion of all four legs, a black tail and mane, and it must be a gelding.

Another important must is a gentle temperament since the Budweiser Clydesdales meet hundreds of thousands of people each year. And every one of those people will want to touch their noses, their manes, and their other body parts, and they’ll all want their picture taken right alongside this most impressive team of Budweiser beer haulers.

You too can have the chance to see, touch and be photographed with the Budweiser Clydesdales right here at the Buffalo Chip Campground. We’re not exactly sure when these pretty pampered Budweiser Clydesdales will make their grand appearance at the 2007 Sturgis Rally festivities so check our schedule of events for exact dates and times. Be sure to come early and don’t forget your camera.

There really is no better place to spend your time at the 2007 Sturgis Rally than right here at Buffalo Chip Campground. No other place offers the range of fun and entertainment that the Chip’s become famous for.

We here at Buffalo Chip feel especially lucky to once again have the Budweiser Clydesdales as part of our 9-day 2007 Sturgis Rally event. They’re an American Icon and they’re as important a part of the Buffalo Chip festivities as the beer that these powerful yet graceful horses haul!
