The Black Hills of South Dakota is an area rich in minerals and mining history, but for those of you who head for the Hills each year for the Sturgis Rally, there lies another series of hidden treasures—interesting places a little off the beaten path, ones you would’ve stopped at had you known they were there. These Black Hills attractions exemplify the life, fun and culture of the area, and because they are world class in their own right, we have gathered a few we think are worth a stop. Have you ever been riding through the beautiful Black Hills on your motorcycle, enjoying the sound of pipes crackling and the clean mountain air, when all of a sudden a set of flashing lights appears behind you? You wonder what you could’ve been doing wrong. Were you speeding? Swerving? Are your tags expired? Maybe your brake light is out. You can only speculate as the officer walks over to your bike. When he asks you, “Do you know why I pulled you over?” You answer, “No.” “Your handlebars are shoulder height,” he replies. “That’s a petty offense in the state of South Dakota; I’m going to have to issue you a ticket.”

Buffalo Chip PowerSports Complex Named “Track of the Year”

Sturgis, SD (November 12, 2014) – The American Motorcyclist Association’s ATV Extreme Dirt Racing has awarded the Buffalo Chip’s PowerSports Complex the honor of “Track of the Year” for 2014. Racers participating in the national series, along with EDT officials, chose the Buffalo Chip as their hands-down favorite after being asked to vote for the best overall track and facility.
