The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s internationally renowned Motorcycles as Art exhibition showcases some of the most influential builders and artists in motorcycling. Exhibitor Dave Baker grew up the son of a Champion race car driver and was interested in anything with wheels as a kid. However, his passion was music, going on to travel the world performing as a professional musician before opening Speedmetal Cycles in Denver Colorado.
Today, Dave still plays with a local popular band and fabricates bikes and parts with a style that harkens back to the mussel car era of late 60s early 70s.

I ran into my ol’ friend Bill, of Bill's Trailer Sales and the Biker Vendors Association for a familiar hug and told him of my new “1st “ tractor which made him proud, and made me smile. I stopped in at Hot Leathers and saw Jim and the gang and picked up an awesome shirt and stopped to admire my friend Joyce’s beautiful jewelry at New Spirit Jewelry. I said hello to our vendors Tim Heir Art, Jennifer's Web, Great Western Seats and our new friends at Bradz Bladz who were all hard at work and looking forward to coming home to us in August.
The Buffalo chip “A Team” vending crew, Brian and Chris, was also hard at work with our friends at Thunder Beach. We paused to brainstorm and get excited about the great event coming in August at the Best Party Anywhere.

While Gloria Tramontin Struck came from a motorcycling family, she didn't originally have any burning desire to ride. In fact, in 1941, when she was 16, her older brother decided to teach her to ride while she told him tearfully, “I don’t want to know how to ride.” Well he won out and since then she has owned 14 bikes--3 Indians and 11 Harleys and now rides a 2004 Heritage Softail Classic.
In 1946, at age 21, Gloria joined the Motor Maids that was started in 1940. She and the founders’ daughter, Betty Fauls, are the longest standing members still riding and in 2011 they were the first in the club's history to be honored for 65 years of active riding.
