Blind Lion

Slated to appear for 9 nights at The Legendary Buffalo Chip, Blind Lion, a young band with old souls, are bringing a time-tested sound back into the foreground of music. Playing original material with classic rock flavor, a style they call “vintage rock,” Blind Lion has resurrected the guitar driven, blues-laden, lyrical sound of the 60’s and 70’s greatest names. Although prior to 2009, all four members had been playing music prior to coming together, they found a real band in each other. Originally calling the group The Relief, they soon changed the name to Blind Lion, agreeing that it was more fitting for their overall presentation.
At the mic is the lead singer/writer: Chris Doran. Chris brings an articulate mind and soulful voice, which resembles the gravel of John Fogerty, and the sultriness of Paul Rodgers. Chris’ stage presence and audience interaction can get the whole room dancing. His writing is more than that of boyhood troubles or girl problems, he seems to speak the language of the common people, reality, and real love.
The second voice in the group is that of Jesse Kennemer’s lead guitar work. Jesse is the youngest in the band, yet the most seasoned musician. Opening and playing with a virtual who’s-who in the music industry, including: Blues Traveler, Queensrhyche, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Quiet and mysterious, but also easy going and clever, Jesse lets his guitar speak for him most of the time.
On the low end there is Shane Kell. Bringing a true classic rock style to the bass, Kell doesn’t just dissolve into the background, he relishes improvising and having musical conversations with the rest of the band. Before Blind Lion, Kell played with legendary drummer Gary Mallaber (Steve Miller Band) opening for several acts including Jonny Lang.
Stitching it all together behind the drum kit is Spenser Doran. The younger brother of Chris, Spenser is an ever-expanding percussionist and artist. A hungry student of the drums, he brings an arsenal of rhythm to Blind Lion. Spenser is also the chief graphic designer for the band; designing and creating most of the posters and album art. His unique works create a recognizable style, not only musically but visually as well.
As a band Blind Lion has worked hard to establish itself. Experienced on a variety of levels after several years on the scene, they have played at many notable venues across the northwest, including The Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. The band is slated to appear for a 9 night stay at The Legendary Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis rally in August. The story is just beginning. Professional and classy, yet lighthearted and approachable; Blind Lion’s live show is guaranteed to at least get your leg twitching and heart pumping. Feel free to dance… Check out Blind Lion’s self-titled debut album, engineered by Bruce Turgon (Foreigner), available at every online music store now!

Dedicated to their passion for music, Blind Lion vows not to stop until their hearts stop.  Welcome to the Chip.
